MSA Parent Update
October 4, 2019
There is a lot going on now that the school year is picking up!! Please check out everything that is going on at MSA:
Last Week of the Marking Period
Fundraiser Pickup Day
Please contact Mrs. Laurel Radius at frazzledblonde@yahoo.com if you can help us with this important fundraiser.
Every department in the school benefits from the proceeds of the only fundraiser the Parent Boosters run for the year. The portion allotted to the Parent Boosters is used to fund the end of the year School-wide BBQ which feeds every student, staff member and teacher.
Also, we collect Boxtops for Education to support the school. Your student can drop them off in the labeled bucket located at the front desk at the entrance of the school. Our next turn-in is approaching, so please turn them in as soon as you can.
Thank you for your support.

PM Parent Pickup Reminders
Also, an important note about pick-up. Any student who is being picked up at dismissal must be picked up in our parent pick-up loop. Asking your child to walk off campus to get picked up causes problems for the community and the private businesses that are in the neighborhood. We have a great relationship with all of our neighbors in the community, and we want to keep it this way. All parents are expected to follow the school procedure for student pick up by waiting patiently in the parent pickup loop after school.
Another important note - students being picked up after an after school activity should be picked up at the school. Please do not ask your children to meet you off campus. This is a safety concern for your child.
Thank you for your attention to these important matters.

PSAT at MSA
The exam will be given at MSA on Wednesday, October 16th. All 10th graders will be taking the exam and have received a PSAT test booklet to prepare for the exam. You can also practice online. Sample questions can be found by Googling CollegeBoard PSAT Test Prep.
There are limited spots for 11th grade students, so if you are interested, please sign up right away. There is a charge of $20 and you MUST sign up MONDAY in the Guidance Office. Taking the PSAT is a great opportunity. By taking the PSAT your scores may qualify you for scholarship monies. Many colleges and universities track the students that take the PSAT and forward information about programs offered at their college or university. If you have any questions please stop by the Guidance Office. We are happy to help you.
Book Fair Coming to MSA
October 21-25, 2019 MSA will host our Fall Spooktacular BoOoOokfair! Reading matters; did you know that reading improves concentration, builds the brain, improves language, empathy, creativity, and is one of the greatest predictors of college success? The bookfair is being held at the media center from 9:00am-5:00pm. We also have our online bookfair from 10/16-10/29 where you can shop online and the books will be delivered right to your student's classroom. New this year, you can also use e-payments by loading money electronically onto your student's scholastic account e-wallet and they can use it at the bookfair.
We are also looking for parent volunteers!
For more information on how to shop online, do e-payments, or volunteer, please visit either our bookfair home page at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/manateeschoolforarts1 or the media center website at www.mediacentermsa.weebly.com . All purchases do help the media center to buy new books and we greatly appreciate your support! Please direct any questions you have to our media specialist, Brittany Dunfee, at bdunfee@msaschool.org or extension 1089.
