Weekly Update for Parents
Week ending 9/24/21
Update from Mrs. Weber
We had another great week! Everyone is settling into the school and classroom routines so nicely! It is so nice to see all the students and staff getting so comfortable with each other. NWEA testing continues as does the work with Wit and Wisdom Module 1.
You will hear all about these programs and more on Monday's back to school night. Please join us to learn about your child's day to day routine. Remember this night is for parents/guardians only. Doors open at 5:55 and session one begins at 6:05, while session 2 starts at 6:35. You may choose which session to attend at which time-the information shared at each will be the same.
If you have not already sent back the opening day packet information that came in the large manila envelope the first week of school, please do so.

For informational purposes Shelton Public Schools is reaching out to K-4 families to inquire about unmet needs at home related to student access to devices. If the answer to the question below is “Yes” then please reply to this email stating so and for which student. If your child currently has access to a device at home that is sufficient to engage in remote learning then you do not need to reply. Do any of your children who are enrolled K-4 students in Shelton Public Schools currently lack access to a connected device (laptop) sufficient to engage in remote learning at home? Disclaimer: Please note that this email and any provided information does not guarantee or otherwise indicate that the district will be providing a 1:1 device or laptop for your child. Please respond by 10/1/2021.
Please help to keep our children safe. I ask you to be mindful of your speed in the parking lot-you never know when someone will unexpectedly cross. Pedestrians and buses always have the right of way-especially in the crosswalk. If a staff member (we are the ones in the bright safety vests) reminds you of expectations, please do not yell or swear. We are only working in the interest of safety. I appreciate all your help and cooperation.
Parents should not be parking in any spots labeled "Reserve" at morning drop off--those are for staff only. You can always use the grass to park but the reserved spots are for our staff members. Open spots in the afternoon can be used.
Student cell phones and smart watches must remain in backpacks in the off position during the school day. Please refer to the newsletters below about procedures/policy expectations for this school year as well as our back to school spirit days.
Please note that we are a completely nut free school for breakfast, lunch and snack. Students will not be allowed to eat any food with nuts that may be sent in. Thank you for your cooperation to keep everyone safe and healthy! The school menus are attached below.
