Elementary Counselor's Corner
Spring Edition
May Wellness
On April 24th we hosted the 2nd in a series of wellness presentations aimed at teaching parents and students alike about important mental health issues as well as self care. The evening was an overwhelming success and we invite you to participate in the 3rd and final evening in the series. Which will focus on current issues facing our adolescence as seen from their prospective.
Keeping Cool and Calm During PARCC
Positive Attitude It might be tough but you can do it!
Relax If you feel nervous relax your mind. Take a deep breath and stretch your legs.
ME Only! Don’t worry about others. Focus just on yourself. Don’t worry if others finish before you.
Focus, Focus, Focus Focus on the question you are reading. Try not to day dream or goof off.
Do your best Make sure you are doing your best work on your test. Think clearly, read carefully, and put forth your best effort.
Go Slow Read directions slowly and carefully for each question.
Get Unstuck If you get stuck, don’t get frustrated. Re-read the question.
Prepare Your Body make sure you get a good night sleep the night before the test, eat a healthy breakfast. And get to school on time!
Brookside School
With Spring here (finally)... Brookside is blooming with kindness! Being excluded, ignored, or teased is very painful for a young child, which is why it's so important to continue to educate kids on kindness and mindfulness. At the elementary level students are able to understand the impact of kindness and compassion. Kindness helps build a sense of connection among the students and throughout the school community.
