Happy New Year and New Semester
Welcome to Semester 2 and Happy New Year! I hope your families had a restful Winter Break.
This is New Semester and Fresh Start!! We know that distance learning has been difficult for many students, but luckily we have support! We have created a few Enrichment classes to support students both academically and social emotionally! The social emotional piece is key as we all get through this pandemic together.

Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment is will continue until Jan. 31, 2021. If you currently have a 5th gr student or know of one, please let them know how amazing Los Alisos Middle School is and what we have to offer! In addition to amazing electives listed (see pic), we are also a "Schools To Watch".
Schools To Watch ~
Los Alisos receiving Schools to Watch designation is an achievement we are celebrating for our school and Norwalk community. Our overarching goal at Los Alisos is to close the achievement gap and assure we provide a school environment that is rigorous, relevant and engaging.
We believe academic is only one piece in assuring “all” students have an opportunity to be successful. Los Alisos is also committed in providing an environment that deals with safety and discipline through progressive practices, for example, utilizing Restorative Practice as a key component in providing students a foundation on dealing with behavior issues. Restorative Practice guides our students and supports them in learning how to have dialogue to support in order to make positive choices and learn how to repair and take responsibility for choices they make. The outcomes have significantly contributed positively to our school climate and culture.
Students feeling safe, making positive choices and not being afraid to speak up.
Another key component is the strong partnership with Norwalk City, they provide resources that assist our families; parenting classes, social services and student programs.
Our teachers are also part of building a positive climate by embedding Social Emotional skills. Our educators are utilizing Second Steps curriculum, it builds a foundation that is responsive to the social emotional needs of our Los Alisos students.
Creating a community where students feel they are celebrated helps build a climate where families feel a sense of belonging, they have a stake in their students education and most importantly are emotionally connected to Los Alisos.
