Principal's Message
Dear Terra Linda Families,
As we approach Thanksgiving Break, I hope you join me in reflecting on the many things to be thankful for in your life. Sometimes we think about big things in our lives, but I am most thankful for the small moments - when my son holds my hand at the store, when I get to take a walk on a sunny, crisp afternoon, when my daughter snuggles in my lap before going to bed, or when I get to talk to my sister who lives 3000 miles away. These small moments bring a smile and contentment amongst the busyness of daily life.
I am particularly thankful for our Terra Linda community. Our children gather each day at school to learn and play together, and as they do, they share their many gifts with each other. Each child brings a unique experience to school and is able to share their passions and backgrounds with their classmates and with our community. I am thankful for the many parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, volunteers, and other community members who join us throughout the year to help our students learn, grow, and experience a range of activities and opportunities. I am also thankful for our incredible staff. Each staff member brings a diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives that enriches our community. Each day, our teachers look for opportunities to challenge our students, to help them see different perspectives, and to grow their skills in a variety of areas. Together, we are building a community of learners who values our diversity. I am so thankful to be part of such a strong, welcoming community.
I wish you a restful holiday break. I hope you are able to spend some quality moments with your family and friends.
Kind Regards,
Christy

Reading Tips you can Use at Home
While students are reading out loud or silently at home, there are several ways you can support them. Do they have a cozy reading spot? Is there dedicated time for reading? The more reading time, the better, but 20-30 minutes per night would be great! Here are some coaching tips you can use at home. Be sure to choose a book that matches your student's current reading level. Above all, find books your children want to read so they enjoy their time lost in a book!
Welcome Mike!

Inclement Weather
When the weather gets snowy or icy, school schedules may be affected. The District generally posts the announcement of delayed school opening or school closure by 5:15 a.m. All Portland Metro area media outlets announce the information on TV newscasts and online.
The District makes decisions based on the ability to operate school buses safely, the ability for students and parents to get to school safely, and the ability for employees to get to work safely and on time. The decision that is made will be for the entire District. As always, parents may choose to make different decisions based on their particular location.
The District will notify parents and staff via SchoolMessenger with a Non-School Hours Emergency message. Please manage your communication preferences in SchoolMessenger InfoCenter.
