Need to Know
The Selwyn Debate Team attended the Queens High School Tournament in Kingston, Ontario, a large tournament of over one-hundred teams and two-hundred debaters. The team of Isaac Cape and Jonah Rosen made it to the quarterfinals, and took the 6th and 10th place speaking awards respectively. Our Grade 10 teams and Juniors also did very well. Special thanks to recent Old Boy Josh Cohen for travelling with the team and scoring the tournament. Read more

Better Managing Anxiety: A Group For Teens: This workshop for teens ages 12-16 will help them to both manage and reduce stress levels using concrete and accessible tools that they will be able to practice across contexts and throughout time. To be held on Sunday afternoons, starting in February 2020, check the link for dates and times.

Duke of Edinburgh Awards:
1) If you are close to completing your Bronze Award, you must have everything up to date by Wednesday, January 15 in order to receive your award at our January 22 assembly. Remember that you must have completed your bronze level to become a Prefect in Grade 11, and that it must be actively in progress to become a House Head in Grade 10. Please note that you are always welcome to drop in to see Mrs. Powers at lunchtimes with any questions, as well as after school on Mondays. The next Bronze award ceremony will be held in May.
2) If you are pursuing your Gold Award, please contact Mr. Deegan (deeganc@selwyn.ca) by January 17 with regard to your SOLO camping trip. All organizational elements must be in place by February 4 for an early May excursion (dates tbc).
