Parents must remain on the sidewalk at arrival and dismissal. If a student absolutely must arrive at school before their designated times he must wait in Coristine Hall. Students must enter through the front door of Lucas, and sit two metres apart. There will be a teacher on duty.
Parent Information Evening ~ Grade 1 to 6:
Please note that Parent Information Evening is on Thursday, September 3. This is an important evening to meet all of your son’s teachers and learn about the curriculum. Reminder that this evening is for adults only, students do not attend. One family member per student.
The evening will begin at 5:30pm for grades 1, 3, and 5 and 6:45pm for grades 2, 4, and 6. Here is the schedule for the evening including locations AND entry & exit doors. The evening will start promptly at the assigned hour and we ask that you leave immediately at the end of your session so that we may sanitize the areas. We ask for your understanding and full cooperation to make this evening a safe and successful opportunity to meet the teachers in person. Please remember to wear your mask and physically distance.
Please note that again this year, the schedule and all Parent Information Evening course outlines will be available only online. The QR code/link will be included in next week’s update to access the course packages for your son’s grade. Please take a moment to read (and print if you wish). Paper copies will not be handed-out. Sessions will also be Zoomed and the Zoom link will be included in next week’s update also.
Feedback-Friday with Mrs. Funamoto: For the month of September, if you have any questions about this school year please feel free to join a Zoom meeting with Mrs. Funamoto (KF Zoom Link). Beginning on Friday, September 4 from 1:00 to 1:30.
Face masks: Please ensure that your child is equipped with an ample supply of reusable cloth face masks or disposable face masks as it is imperative that he has a clean face mask each day. A back-up face mask should be packed in his backpack/snack bag each day in case he needs to replace it. Your son will receive 2 SHS fashion face mask covers. They may be worn over any mask to add a SHS flare. Should your son wish to wear a face shield in addition to the mask he may do so.
Snacks & Lunch Menu: Please pack your son healthy snacks for the day. Lunch will be provided by our cafeteria and eaten in designated classrooms. Please check out the lunch menu. If your son does not like what is on the menu, please feel free to pack a lunch too. If you have not filled in your son’s Medical Update form (via onCampus) please do so NOW! as we will use that food allergy information to provide all our boys a safe lunch.
No Drop-Offs please: Parents are asked not to drop off items for their sons. Students need to remember to pack what they need for the day in their backpacks. We are trying to limit movement of all students in the school.
Uniform in the Elementary School: Students will wear Selwyn House Phys. Ed. uniforms until further notice. This includes SHS shorts, sweatpants, athletic t-shirts, sweatshirts, and running shoes. This also allows for comfortable clothing for outdoor classrooms, midday body break exercises and ensures that clothes can be laundered daily. Please label your son’s school clothing.
Argyle Shop Update: Inventory of our phys. ed. and uniform items are being replenished. We are trying our best to have full stock by the middle of the coming week.
A must read!:
Please ensure that you and your son read the Parent-Student Handbook before school starts. The Parent-Student Handbook contains staff directories and school policies and protocols. Please note that some policies and protocols in the handbook are temporarily replaced by the Health & Safety Guidelines 2020-21, and that is clearly indicated in the handbook.
Also, please take a moment to read the Traffic Circulation, the Selwyn’s Digital World and the FEEP Accitravel Insurance Information.
Selwyn Parent Volunteer Association ~ Fall 2020: Welcome back all Selwyn parents and welcome to all families new to the school! Normally at the start of school the PVA hosts a few events to welcome everyone back and provides a chance for parents to get to know each other informally. This year the return to school is quite different so we're going to have to postpone our regularly scheduled events for now! We want you to know that we are always grateful for extra hands to help with the events that will happen during the year so please stay tuned for news as we ease back into school this year. Also, we recognize that while we would love to meet everyone in person and create opportunities for people to meet each other, we will have to do this digitally for now. Our webpage will be updated shortly and we encourage you to reach out to any of us if you have questions or are interested in signing up to volunteer down the road! Here is the list of our group and their contact info. Don't be shy to reach out! Also note that each grade will have class parents who will help out with grade-specific things - we'll get that contact info out soon too. Ca va bien aller : ) Karen Anderson
