Bob Alvarez Run for Your Health Prediction 5k
The Bob Alvarez Run For Your Health Prediction 5K, 800 Meter Kids Run, and One Mile Ticker Trot Benefits D.A.R.E. and the Fairview Elementary running club Saturday, April 1st, Fairview Elementary, 5K-9:00AM, 800 Meter Kids Run(second grade and under -8:15AM, Ticker Trot One Mile-8:30AM. Fairview Elementary will be hosting a 5K Prediction Run and One Mile Ticker Trot on Saturday, April 1st. The race is run in memory of Bob Alvarez, who was a supporter of many activities at Fairview, especially in the area of running. The 5K is at 9:00AM and the Ticker Trot is at 8:30AM. Most of the profits will benefit the D.A.R.E. (Drug Awareness Resistance Education) program at Fairview and some will also help fund the Fairview Elementary Noontime Running Club which promotes physical activity. The event consists of a 5K run/walk in which participants guess their time beforehand and the top 4 who are closest to their guesses will be the winners. Awards will also be given to the fastest male and fastest female. We also encourage people to walk as well as run. There is also a one mile Ticker Trot ran on the track, which is also open to anyone. It would be great to have families participate together. We try to make this a fun environment for everyone and would like to use it to encourage fitness. You can register the day of the race, but it is appreciated if you register early so that we can get the race packets ready. If interested, please fill out the bottom and send to Curt Foust, Fairview Elementary, 14060 Blosser Road, Sherwood, OH 43556. The cost of the race is $10.00 (preregistered) per runner/walker for the 5K and $8.00 for the Ticker Trot with each entrant (at least the first 50 registered) getting a t-shirt. The check should be made out to Central Local Schools. More info at www.defiancecountyrunner.com. Email curt.foust@centrallocal.org if questions.

Science Museum
I wish you all could have attended our Science Museum put on by our Fairview High School Science Students. I had the chance to stop by several of the exhibits. I have to say that I was very impressed by how knowledgeable our students were about their projects! Over 40 high school students presented their projects to our 7th and 8th grade students. Our elementary students were able to come over to see the exhibits as well. Our older students did a great job explaining their projects in a way that our younger students could understand. Lots of learning taking place! Kudos to Amy Woodring for organizing this Interactive Science Museum! Thanks to our science teachers Mrs. Amy Woodring, Mr. Jacob Panico, and Miss Ginny Pettenger for making this project part of their curriculum!

BAND TRIP
ACT Out
Eighth grade students attended the ACT Out program at Archbold Middle School on Wednesday, March 22nd from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
ACT Out is made up of professional actors who perform original works based on social, health and educational issues. This nationally recognized company utilizes live theatre to allow students to more easily address topics such as depression/suicide and alcohol use, cyber-bullying/sexting, self-respect/dating violence.
Three actors and a facilitator from ACT Out professionally performed three very believable scenes that address a variety of teen issues. After a scene occurs, the 8th grade students are able to confront the actors (still in character) about their behavior in the scene. The ACT Out facilitator very effectively controls the flow of the interactions.
