TAWANKA TIMES
KINDERGARTEN
Curious George went for a walk in the kindergarten pod and found lots of costumes to wear for Halloween!
SECOND GRADE
2nd Grade has had a busy few weeks!
Mr. Gosser came in to teach Second Graders how to use WeVideo. We had a blast learning how to make movies and sharing them with our friends.
Mrs.Hanna's 2nd graders will have a very special "chance" to improve their reading fluency by reading with Chance. Chance is Mrs.Deeken's therapy dog. Both special guests visit our classroom every week!
Second graders used their senses to observe how leaves sound, feel, look, and smell. They worked together to make posters of their observations.
THIRD GRADE
Fall is in the air in the third grade pod! The third graders have been very busy and have been working very hard. The students have been doing a lot of seasonal writing in the last few weeks. Some of these writings include leaf poetry, skeleton couplets, fall figurative language sentences, and spooky stories. In their ELA classes, the students have been learning to locate evidence in a passage and analyze this evidence in their writing when responding to a prompt. The third graders have also been busy with getting to know their crayfish. They have been studying their structures and their behavior, and have been writing descriptive paragraphs about them. The Bess Beetles have also arrived at Tawanka and will be the next unit of study for the students. Lastly, the students are looking forward to a fun filled week next week that includes their field trip to The Franklin Institute.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
SWPBS
The Golden Spatula has returned! Once a week in the cafeteria a class is chosen to receive and display the Golden Spatula in their classroom. Classes are chosen by being the most respectful, having the cleanest table and floor and by following all of the cafeteria expectations throughout the week.
