Girls on the Run Project and Fundraiser
Dublin's Girls on the Run team is supporting Forrest Stump: an organization that works towards all amputees having access to affordable prosthetic limbs.
A prosthetic limb is something that people wear if they don't have a leg or an arm. Sometimes individuals lose their limbs due to cancer or accidents, or many other reasons. Sometimes prosthetic limbs for athletic purposes can cost as much as $30,000! The Forrest Stump organization is working on changing that, and making athletic prosthetic limbs affordable for everyone in need.
There will be a flower sale held on April 30th in the gym right before school starts. The flowers are $1 each, and you can buy flowers before going to your classroom. You can also donate any extra change or dollar bills to the organization in a jar that we will have out if you want to donate more to the cause. Once the flowers sell out, there will be no more flowers.
Thank you for supporting Girls on the Run, and don't forget your money on April 30th!
Kindergarten Activity Hour
On Thursday, May 17th we are inviting all new kindergarten students to participate in our annual Dublin Kindergarten Activity Hour. Activity Hour will take place from 10:30-11:30 AM.
Parents will bring their new kindergarten student to school to meet with teachers, take a short bus ride around the neighborhood, and take a tour of our school. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions, tour the school, sign up for PTA, etc.
To participate in this special event, we ask that all new kindergarten parents sign up with us by giving our secretaries a call in our main office as soon as possible at
248-956-3800.
We look forward to a fun Kindergarten Activity Hour together!
If you have not enrolled your student yet, please do so as soon as possible.

Invisible Dad Program
Through the generosity of parent donations and the planning of a few dedicated people, we are thrilled to provide the Invisible Dad lunch program at Dublin Elementary.
Every day, in our own community and in our school, children are faced with a growing form of hunger: food insecurity. Not knowing where their next meal will come from, these children are not only faced with being hungry, studies have also shown these children can face more severe issues in the future. The Invisible Dad program hopes to change that by providing the funds necessary to make sure all children have access to a full meal at lunch.
These funds are not something you or your child have to ask for or apply to receive. These funds are available without question or judgment as children go through the line at lunch. Parents will be notified privately and confidentially if their child’s lunch is paid for by the Invisible Dad. Sometimes the situation is simple and the lunch account just needs to be refilled. We ask that you refill your account and perhaps consider donating back to the program. Sometimes the situation is more complex, the money just isn’t there and won’t be there for some time. In those cases, you and your child will not have to worry again about lunch. The Invisible Dad program will step in and make sure lunch is provided.
Donations can be made by sending cash or a check to school made out to “Walled Lake Food Services” with “Invisible Dad - DUBLIN” in the memo. This is not a tax-deductible donation, this is just money from you to a child in need.
Walled Lake Schools offers free and reduced-cost lunches; the Invisible Dad program aims to solve for the short-term and one-off situations. If you would like to apply for free or reduced-cost lunch, please contact Mr. Drewno.
For more information about this program, visit www.invisibledad.org. Please contact Mr. Drewno, or Julie Rader-Food Services Coordinator (julierader@wlcsd.org) with questions.
