Message from the Principal
Hi, Prairie Families,
Hoping this finds you well. I had an absolutely lovely week bouncing into all the classroom's community circles. What a lovely group of teachers, and Prairie students are just as wonderful. Thanks for doing all that you are doing supporting your children during their virtual learning. It sure is a different world for all of us. I can't stress enough the importance of making sure your child is on approved sites and using the device for educational purposes. Basically? Keeping safe! Unfortunately, when students don't follow the acceptable use criteria, they get functions of their iPad disabled. A couple of things I have noticed include the following:
- Students chatting in groups on WebEx for social reasons and NOT for educational purposes. Students can use family owned devices for these purposes. The SDW iPads and their WebEx accounts are for educational purposes only.
- Students "muting" each other during WebEx classes. Some grade levels struggle with this more than others. Thanks for making sure your child knows that WebEx is an extension of their classroom. If they wouldn't be allowed to do that at Prairie, they shouldn't do that virtually.
Please have a conversation with your child to make sure they know to follow the school's and your expectations for virtual learning. We appreciate your help!!
No school on Friday or Monday, so there will be no scheduled WebEx meetings or assignments coming from teachers. Enjoy your LONG weekend!!
