We'll have a photo area and families are welcome to tour the building to check out the art work. From 9:45-10:45, we have planned a special assembly to honor our guests.
Please RSVP by Wednesday of this week to rookss@usd385.org. We look forward to serving you.
We ask that students wear red, white or blue as a sign of Cottonwood's patriotism.
News You Can Use
Food Drive/Gift Card Drive--During the month of November, the Cottonwood Student Council is collecting food for the Andover Food Bank. At the end of the month, buddy classes will design a statue with the food and classes will be judged on amount collected and creativity of the design.
We are also collecting gift cards to Walmart, Target, Dollar General, Amazon, etc. to send to three different elementary schools in Houston. Our hope is that we can support a few of the families affected by the hurricane at Christmas.
Andover 385 Bond TImeline--Attached you will find an updated bond timeline. So far, I have worked with the playground construction manager to develop plans for the new playground. In early January, you will start to see the beginning of the new addition and the road around the stadium. We are looking forward to learning more about construction in the months ahead.
Welcome--The office has experienced a few changes. With the retirement of Julie Clopton, Rachel Peay has moved to the nurse's office as a health clerk. You will find Rachel there on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Denise Tauke will continue to work on Tuesday and Wednesday. Shari Tasker is joining the front office staff. She will work alongside Sherry Neubauer to make sure our office is welcoming and informative. Please welcome Shari, when you see her.
Educationally yours,
Shari Rooks, Principal
Cottonwood PTO says THANK YOU
A big THANK YOU to all of our students and families and neighbors for supporting our fundraiser. With your support, students raised $12,500. We asked the kids what they would like for our school and we got a variety of answers, from books to decorations. We'll share our wishes and dreams at the PTO meeting on Tuesday evening!
On Friday, we celebrated with Kona Ice and a half day of play. It was a little chilly, but the snow cones and flavorings took the chill away as we shared some time together eating and talking in the cafeteria.
Thank you for supporting Cottonwood!

Citizenship is our theme for November. The definition of citizenship is the status of being a citizen, along with the rights, duties and privileges of being a citizen. We are going to address ways in which we show good citizenship at school and in the community. We will also going to talk about all the things we have to be thankful for and take a moment to celebrate all the good things we have.
The holiday season can be a difficult time. If your child is having a difficult time, please know that I am here for all of them. I can help with academics, friendship, the battle to come to school or struggles at home. I am here to support and advocate for all of our students. Feel free to call or email anytime.
