Band!
Band concert is Monday, May 9th in the MVHS Performing Arts Center.
5th & 6th grade concert at 6:15 and the 7th & 8th grade band concert at 7:00. All band kids need to be at MVHS 20 minutes before their concert start time in their red band t-shirt, black pants , and the darkest shoes & socks that they have.
Entrances are through the front PAC entrance or the back activities entrance.
8th Grade Choir
The 8th Grade Choir Concert will be combined with the MVHS choirs on May 12th at 7:00pm in the Performing Arts Center. Please have students arrive at 6:30pm. The dress for this event is formal. Students should wear a combination of black and white. Please no jeans, shorts, hoodies or t-shirts with logos, & no athletic pants.
6th Grade Vaccination Requirements
Attention parents of current 6th grade students! The Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) and the Meningococcal vaccine dose 1 are required for 7th grade students. Proof of required vaccinations are due the 2nd Monday in October, 10/10/2022.

Hello MTMS, Mr. Hileman will be teaching the following summer courses this June at Johnson County Community College. These are pure fun courses created for Grades 5-9.

Theater Camp
Keep the drama out of the house this summer and join us at Stage360 Theater Camp! This is a safe, friendly, and fun way for students to explore acting for the first time or for students with stage experience to expand their acting skills.
June 6-10 Theater Boot Camp at Monticello Trails
Session 1: Elementary + (Incoming 4th - 6th graders) 9:00AM - 10:20AM
Session 2: Middle School (Incoming 6th - 9th graders) 10:40 - 12:00
During boot camp week, students will:
· Learn basic stage acting skills
· Play improvisation and memorization games
· Practice voice projection
· Experiment with facial expression, body language, and vocal expression techniques
· Learn best practices for play auditions
· Get a really cool t-shirt & camp pics
June 13-17 Comedy Week at Monticello Trails
Session 1: Elementary + Middle: Grades 4-8 (Incoming 4th - outgoing 8th graders) 9:00AM- 10:20AM
Session 2: Middle School (Incoming 6th - 9th graders) 10:40 - 12:00
During comedy week, students will:
· Perform short comedy skits
· Sharpen improv skills
· Explore comedic timing
· Experiment with the physicality of comedic acting
· Get a really cool t-shirt & camp pics

8:00AM - 9:00AM – New Instrument Petting Zoo
This session provides an opportunity for students to become familiar with a variety of instruments. We’ll provide sanitized instruments and instruct on playing techniques and attributes of each one. This session is recommended for anyone (grades 5-9) interested in starting a new instrument.
9:00AM - 10:00AM – 6th Grade Session
This session is for any student who will be entering the 6th grade during the 2022-2023 school year and are wanting to improve their fundamentals and learn some new popular songs! Students will improve their technique, sight-reading, tone production, intonation and various musical skills through performing new music.
10:00AM - 11:00AM – 7th & 8th Grade Session
This session is for any student who will be entering the 7th or 8th grade during the 2022-2023 school year and are wanting to play fun music! Students will improve their technique, sight-reading, tone production, intonation and various musical skills through performing new and exciting music.
11:00AM - 12:00PM - Jazz Band Session
This session is for any student entering the 6th, 7th 8th and 9th grade during the 2022-2023 school year. Students will explore various jazz styles through performing music in the swing, latin, rock, and funk style. This session is not limited to standard jazz instrumentation. All band instruments are welcome!
12:00PM - 1:00PM - Drumline Session
This session is for any student entering the 6th, 7th, 8th , or 9th grade during the 2022-2023 school year that are wanting to explore the world of drumline instruments. (This session is not limited to percussion students.). They will have an opportunity to play the snare, quads, bass drum and cymbals. Students will improve their rhythmic skills and sight through playing fun drumline music and cadences. Instruments will be provided.
1:00PM - 2:00PM – 9th Grade Session
This session is for any student who will be entering the 9th grade during the 2022-2023 school year and are wanting to improve their fundamentals and learn some new popular songs! Students will improve their technique, sight-reading, tone production, intonation and various musical skills through performing new music.
