“Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I may always be holy!” St. Augustine
Hopefully, the cooler weather will be arriving soon with the start of autumn. Outdoor recesses have been pretty hot, but our students play hard anyway.
Here it is the middle of the first quarter already! Midquarter reports were sent home on Wednesday to students in grades 3-8. This report indicates your child’s progress at this point of the marking period. There are still about four weeks until the end of the quarter when grades are finalized and officially recorded. The first quarter ends on Friday. Oct. 12. If you have questions please contact the teacher.
Yearbooks were sent home this week. Enjoy the colorful photos inside. Thank you, Mrs. Lorang, for putting the yearbooks together.
The annual Diocesan Advocates survey was sent home this week in an envelope. This is a part of the e-rate grant that the school has participated in for many years. The school does receive discounts, about $2,000, on electronics and billing through this grant. If 100% of the surveys were returned, our rate of discounts would increase. Thank you for taking the time to complete the form and return it to the school office. In October, paperwork for the grant is completed and sent to Diocesan Advocates. The surveys are counted and the number recorded in the paperwork. The surveys stay here and are kept on file.
Fall Supper Raffle tickets that have not been picked up from the back of church were also sent home from the parish with the children.
The school is in receipt of a donation of $2500 from the Orscheln Industries Foundation (OIF). How kind of the foundation to remember the children at our school. This donation will be used to support the purchase of some educational tools not otherwise covered in our budget.
The school participates with the diocese in the fall testing of the Iowa BASICS. Testing week this year will be Oct. 1-5. Grades 3-8 will be involved in testing all week. It is difficult to make up tests, so please be aware of these dates while making appointments or planning activities.
Blessings to all for a safe and healthy week.
