Complete High School Maize
February 2023
A Note from Principal Hilliard
Hello, Wolfpack Family!
Wow! I cannot believe that we are through February - time flies when you are having fun! Even though it was fast, we had a full, great month. We had 100% attendance at conferences. Thank you so much for coming and for supporting your child. We had a great site council meeting at the end of January. If you are interested in getting involved our next one is Tuesday, March 28th. I also met with our Breakfast Club (CHSM's version of student council) and your children are so creative. I am excited to see what they come up with the next time we meet. We have had three graduations this month - Juan, Landon and Jake! Way to go guys!! We are looking forward to bringing 7 new students into our wolfpack on the 20th; they will be a great addition to CHSM!
Attendance - THANK YOU!! Attendance was much improved this nine weeks! Please continue to encourage your child to come to school - even when it is hard! We can do hard things, "embrace the suck", all that! We are a great place to be, but we can't be great without everyone here! As usual, once a student accumulates 1395 minutes of non-productive time they will be placed on an attendance contract. My goal for the final 9 weeks is to have NO ONE on a contract.
I cannot believe that spring break is around the corner - just two short weeks and the students and staff will have a much deserved break. Some of the students already earned the incentive for the "if done, don't come week" so they will start spring break after Thursday of this week!
Some important reminders and upcoming dates!!
-If done, don't come week is March 6-10 - students must have 4 contracts completed, 2 for each block class and a parent must sign the form.
-Contracts are officially due on Thursday, March 9 at 4:15. Students must have 3 contracts completed to continue at CHSM 4th 9 weeks.
-The field trip for March 2 has been moved to May 4th. We are going to have a "work all day, day" on Thursday.
-Cap and gown orders - Adam will mail them on March 9th!! Please get these to Adam before the 9th!
-Spring Break - March 13-17
-March 20 - First day of 4th 9 weeks!!!!

Complete High School Graduates and Soon-To-Be Graduates
- Cap and Gown: All orders are due to Adam by March 9, if your student is planning on walking with their class at the MSHS or MHS graduation ceremony. Cap and gown order forms were initially sent to all seniors' home addresses, but if you didn't receive one (or lost it), Adam has extras.
- If you decide to order your cap and gown by sending it directly back to Balfour, please let Adam know. This will help us in planning for our role in the ceremony.
- Maize South High School Graduates: All students who are planning on walking and/or having their picture in the group photo that hangs in the building will need to show up for individual and group graduation photos at MSHS on Tuesday, March 21 at 7:15a. The group photo will be taken at 7:30a. You will be excused if you are a few minutes late to CHSM that day.
- Graduation for Maize High School is May 21 at 6:30p at Koch Arena (more detailed information to come in the future)
- Graduation for Maize South High School is May 22 at 6:30p at Hartman Arena (more detailed information to come in the future)
WSU Tech Classes and Options for the 2023-24 School Year
Students have been working with staff on finding the right post-secondary plans for their future. With this in mind, many students will have the opportunity to take free or greatly reduced courses through WSU Tech this spring and next school year. In saying this, March 6 is a BIG day for enrollment. This is the day that WSU Tech opens up their course offerings to the local high schools, and there are a LOT of students vying for those spots. We are going to pull all the students who are interested in these programs at once and sign them up on day one. Hopefully this will give our students the best possible opportunity to get into their program of choice. Attendance is always important, but March 6 is so, so important if your student is wanting to be a part of the WSU Tech program and get their college courses paid for by the state. If you have questions, please use this link to learn more about these opportunities.
