Delran High School Broadcast
February 10, 2017
Message from Mr. Daniel Finkle
Congratulations to the Bionic Bears, our DHS Robotics Team, on a successful showing at their first VEX Robotics Competition. Forty-five teams competed at BCIT on January 28, 2017. The Bionic Bears worked through the fall to design a robot using VEX parts, which could compete in this year’s “Starstruck” themed challenge. The 18-inch robot, controlled wirelessly, was able to lift and move 1-foot stars and cubes to the opposite side of a fence. The Bionic Bears placed 11th out of 35 teams competing in the Skills Test, and 15th of the 45 teams competing in the Field Competition. Considering many of the other teams came with years of experience, this is an outstanding first competition for the DHS team, and their coaches Mr. Smith and Mr. Rood-Ojalvo! Delran High School was named to the College Board Honor Roll for student achievement performance on Advanced Placement tests from 2014 to 2016.
According to the College Board, the AP District Honor Roll recognizes school districts across the U.S. and Canada for increasing AP access to these students while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning AP exam scores of 3 or higher. AP District Honor Roll recipients are committed to expanding the availability of AP courses among prepared and motivated students of all backgrounds.
A special congratulations to the teachers that work so closely with the students in our charge! HERE you shall find information regarding a district student achievement trend on Advanced Placement tests taken by DHS students during the years 2014-2016.

AP Exam Registration Information
AP students received the Bulletin for AP Students and Parents as well as a registration form on Wednesday, February 1st. Please review this information with your child. Encourage him/her to sign up to take the AP Exam even if he/she is already registered for the CAP Program. The deadline to register for AP testing is Wednesday, March 1st. The exam fee is $93.00.
