Linden Faculty Follies
Come out on December 7th and let LCS Faculty entertain you in their annual Follies event. The event hleps raise money for those in need in our community.
Genese Career Institute (GCI)
GCI will be at LHS on Tuesday, December 5th as part of their Roadshow to talk to 10th graders about their programs. To preview or get additional information, use the link below.
https://geneseegci.ss19.sharpschool.com/Programs
An in-person visit will be scheduled in Fedruary so students can visit GCI to see their favorite two programs. We don't know which date we'll be assigned, but a sign up form will be shared as soon as they provide the visit date. The in-person visit is REQUIRED for those that intend to attend GCI.
Parents and students will also have an opportunity to visit GCI sometime in February. This will be an after school event. When we know the exact time, we'll share it with you.
Applications for GCI will be available on the day of the in-person GCI field trip. Those will need to be turned in one week later. We will email the application to students and parents on that day.
When assigning students to GCI, we look at the following:
- Their career goal in Xello and the program they are choosing at GCI must align.
- We next look at attendance, grades and discipline and then rank order the students who have applied for each program.
- We then award seats. Typically this will be done toward the end of February. An email will be sent to students informing them know they have a seat.
- Any students who do not get a seat during the first award process, will have an opportunity to be placed when we go to a seating draft in March. Any students not placed at that time will be on our waiting list.
Young Men In The Workforce
This event are hosted by the Fenton Chamber of Commerce exclusively for Linden, Fenton, and Lake Fenton High School JUNIOR & SENIOR students.
The focus of the event, centers around career exploration, networking, self-branding, financial education, team-building, connecting with mentors, and learning skills to be successful with their future goals. Students will have the opportunity to learn about and network with professionals from a variety of career pathways, as well as, students from our neighboring schools.
- We are looking for LHS young men to attend the Young Men & the Workforce on December 8, 2023, from 7:30 - 2:00
Final Exam Exemptions
With Thanksgiving behind us, and the end of the first semester drawing closer, please be aware of the exam exemtion criteria. The graphic included provides pertinent information students should be aware of. A couple of other reminders:
- LHS encourages students that earn the exam exemption to take their final exams to improve their course grade(s).
- Missing work is considered, and entered as zeros in terms of course grade(s).
- Students should complete and submit any missing work within 1 week of its' original due date.
EDP Completion
As we near the end of the 1st semester I want to enlist your assistance in the completion of student Educational Development Plans (EDP). Our EAGLE TIME was established to allow 9-12 grade students to complete these necessary assignments allowing for more instructional time in each classroom. EDP’s are initiated beginning in 8th grade, culminating with a Senior Exit Presentation. The purpose of the EDP is to allow students to explore “life after high school”, identifying the path they may need to take to achieve their post secondary goals whether attending a college or university, obtaining employment, or learning a trade. It is required of ALL 9-12 grade students each year. Other impacts of incomplete EDP’s:
STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO TAKE ALL END OF SEMESTER FINAL EXAMS.
EDP AND SENIOR EXIT PRESENTATION ARE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
EDP assignments have their own due dates, and have been communicated to all students. These are visible in the classwork tab of Google Classroom. Students will have until December 21, 2023 at 2:21 pm to complete ALL outstanding EDP assignments. (NO EDP assignment submissions will be accepted after 2:21 pm on December 21, 2023).
Any student who has not completed 100% of EDP assignments according to the instructions prior to December 21, 2023 at 2:21 pm will no longer be eligible for exam exemption in any class.
Suggestions for EDP assignment completion:
Students can watch the instructional videos provided again.
If students are still having difficulty, they can make an appointment with Mrs. Fuller, EDP Coordinator, for assistance.
We will also be initiating after-school EDP workshops beginning next week, anyone with an incomplete EDP can get additional help. Invitations and scheduling details will come soon.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
