PRAIRIE POST
June 4, 2021
Message from the Principal
Hello Prairie Friends & Families,
Science & Engineering Day was a blast today! Our learners engaged in critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and much more! Thank you to the Prairie virtual students who were able to join us for the different challenges. A lot of fun was had by all.
We'd like to send one more HUGE thank you out to all of you - our Prairie community members! Thank you for your generous donations that allowed the PTA and our school district to fund our awesome new playground. We created a "stronger together" heart outside near the playground to show our appreciation for the support we get from our generous Prairie community. Take a look at the video below to see highlights from the playground and the "stronger together" heart process. THANK YOU ALL!
Have a great weekend!
We are Team Prairie!
We are stronger together!

Art News
Dear Prairie Parents, Guardians and Students,
Oh what a year this has been! It looks like we are all going to make it through the pandemic and able to head into summer for some well-deserved rest & recuperation time.
I have learned so much from the students this year. I admire their resilience, determination, “Can-Do attitude” and their flexibility. I have also learned some valuable lessons from the pandemic. Most importantly, I have learned not to take things for granted. I have also learned the importance of “living in the moment” and enjoying the present.
It is these realizations that have given me the courage to leave my career as an Art Teacher and try something new. This was a very difficult decision for me as I still LOVE interacting with the kids and watching them learn & grow. This career is what I have focused (and often over-focused) on for the last 26 years. I started my teaching journey at Prairie Elementary in 1995. It seems to make perfect sense to me that this is also the place where I make my exit.
Getting to know the families and students at Prairie has been nothing short of fantastic. I have truly enjoyed my time working with the students & families at Prairie.
I look forward to the next opportunities and adventures that come my way. Remember to “Seize the Day”!!!
Take Care,
Mrs. (Art) Anderson
A Special Message from our PTA
The PTA would like to thank our Prairie community for the support during this challenging past year. Without the ability to host events at school this year, the ability to raise funds has been disrupted. However, we were able to continue to support our teachers and students this past year. In addition to the new playground, the PTA was able to support the teachers by providing $3523.69 in teacher allocations (funds each teacher is allotted to use how they see fit in their classroom). We are very glad to continue that support this year, but we know next year will be even harder due to the lack of fundraising. The funds raised this year totaled $4814.97. The PTA typically funds Teacher Allocations, Student Events (Field trips, Ice Cream social, Halloween dance, Puma Palooza, 5th Grade graduation celebration, etc.)
We are hopeful to raise enough funds to continue to support these efforts next year and beyond! We need the support of our community to continue to help our teachers and students. Please consider making a donation directly to the PTA. These funds are 100% used to support our school staff and students.
THANK YOU!

GOT SNEAKERS FUNDRAISER: Thank you to all of those who have already donated shoes to our fundraiser. As spring cleaning is starting up remember this is an ongoing fundraiser so keep searching for shoes! Did you know that your gently worn sneakers could help Prairie PTA? Prairie PTA is participating in a fundraiser where you donate your shoes. All we need is your support and your gently worn, used ,or new sneakers! Here’s how you can help. Start in your and your family’s closets and gather as many pairs of sneakers that you no longer want; maybe you’ve out-grown them, they’re out of style, or out of season. If you and your household have 20 pairs, great! If not, don’t worry. You can ask your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and anyone in your social networks to help out. Every pair counts! The sneakers that we all collect will help raise money to support Prairie PTA AND will help our environment by keeping sneakers out of landfills.
