Longridge Community Update
The Best Part of LR is the People!
Opening Message
We hope that everyone has had a safe and relaxing February Break. We will be closing out February quite quickly and ringing in the month of March. With only five short weeks until spring break, the month will move pretty quickly.
The LR family will be completing a mid-year review over the next few weeks. Some of you expressed interest in participating in this review. There will be three after school meetings taking place, once a week, for the next three weeks. If you would like to join us, please feel free to contact us in the main office at 966-5800.
In recognition of Black History Month, the Greece Central School District is proud to share this virtual program of students celebrating Black Americans through video expression. Please use this YouTube playlist to join our performers in their appreciation of notable Black figures and Black historical perspectives.
Normally, our Black History Month celebration includes a public event honoring the district’s many Black Scholars and featuring live student performances. Due to the pandemic, we cannot be together in person but we hope you will take time to recognize their accomplishments and draw inspiration from their contributions.
Your continued input and feedback is important to us and the District. If you have not done so yet, please take a few minutes to complete the Parent Survey:
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us in the main office at 966-5851.

Celebrating Longridge!
1. Mr. Ketchum was a recent recipient of Channel 8 News Golden Apple Award. Mr. Ketchum is one of our first grade teachers and is a dedicated educator for Longridge and Greece CSD. If you did not get a chance to see the news spot, you can check it out here.
2. Mrs. Canale (Kindergarten) used Yoga to teach about and celebrate various people of color with her Kindergarten students. She introduced various people from history, as well as a corresponding yoga pose. To see the flow, click on the following link.
Things to Know for February
1. Arrival Update (NEW): We worked with the Transportation Department to help with traffic flow in the mornings. Now that we have welcomed over 85 more in person learners since February 1st, we have noticed an increase in the number of car riders each morning, resulting in more traffic in the surrounding neighborhoods. Moving forward, all LARGE school buses will be entering the property via Longridge Avenue only. No large buses will be using Wildwood. As you are planning your morning, you may find it helpful to access the property via Wildwood and not Longridge Avenue.
2. NYS Grade 3-8 Exams: New York State Education Department recently submitted two waivers to the Federal Government in regards to the 3-8 ELA and Math exams. The first waiver requested that there be no exams administered in light of the ongoing pandemic. The second waiver is to not provide a score of 1-4 to schools as a part of ESSA (formerly No Child Left Behind). As of now, the NYS exams are scheduled to move forward as planned in the months of April (ELA) and May (Math). Please watch this space for updates.
3. Updated Materials Pick-up: We are happy to announce that materials for remote students can now be picked up from school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. - 4p.m. Please enter through the main entrance where someone from the main office will direct you to the materials located in our front lobby. The image below is of the materials set-up in our front lobby.
