Student Leadership & Experiential Education
Truth & Reconciliation Week Sept. 27 - Oct. 1
During the week of Sept. 27 to Oct. 1, the school will be engaging in learning opportunities and activities based on the themes developed by the National Centre for Truth & Reconciliation. Students and teachers will discuss the term reconciliation and will honour the lives lost from Canada’s residential school system on September 30 by wearing orange shirts. Students may wear ANY orange shirt on Sept. 30 with their uniform pants and proper dress shoes. This year, our Indigenous Student Committee designed a new T-shirt. You may purchase a shirt via this Google Form and it will be delivered to your son’s classroom within 48 hours. All proceeds will go towards family support programs at Step by Step in Kahnawake. If you have any questions, please contact Courtney Prieur, Director of Experiential Education at prieurc@selwyn.ca

Celebrating our Grade 10 River Rescue days
We are very proud of our students and the program we have created around river safety near the Lachine Rapids in Verdun. The students learned, played, and developed the understanding and skills in moving waters. We believe if more students had access to safety training like this one taught by Boreal River Adventures there would be a lot less serious injuries in water based activities. Here is a brief video link on youtube.
Grade 10-11 Gatineau River Trip Sept. 24 to Sept. 27
This trip is currently full with a waiting list. We have had excellent interest for this program and we are sad to say we cannot accommodate any more numbers due to safety on the river.
This is an indicator that our culture is shifting towards river training and our boys continue to learn and grow in areas they may have never thought possible. If numbers change Mr. Deegan will reach out to those already on the waitlist.
Thank you all for your interest
