What is the purpose of MAP testing?
MAP tests are given to all students in the Fall and Spring. These tests produce scores that make it possible to monitor student growth from year to year, allowing educators to make data driven decisions regarding academic interventions in order to meet each student's needs.
Which subjects are tested?
- Math
- Reading
- General Science
What is the 'score' my child receives after taking the test?
- The number your student receives at the end of the test is called a RIT score.
- The RIT score indicates your child's academic abilities in that subject area.
- Since the MAP test only presents questions that your child can reasonably attempt
to answer, the results are an excellent indicator of those skills and concepts that will appropriately challenge him/her. With this information, his/her teacher can ensure academic growth by tailoring their instruction to meet his/her needs.
What RIT score is considered 'normal' ?
- A child is considered 'at grade level' if their RIT score falls within the mean for their grade level for each subject.
- The link below will take you to a document which indicates the RIT score that equates to 'at grade level'.
- Use charts: READING, MATH, GENERAL SCIENCE
- Use 'end of year' column
