Week-at-a-Glance (WAAG) for Nov. 21-25
Learning about the Métis Culture!
Throughout this week the students have learned a lot about the Métis culture this week during morning prayers and announcements. There has been a focus on language, artwork, the Métis anthem, and an overall appreciation of the identity of the Métis.
Did you know that our school faith goal includes learning more about Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing (understanding the culture and way of life) our prayers and learning this past week this allowed us to bring these connections to the classroom?
Legal School students and staff will make meaningful connections between the Catholic faith and Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing within their community by seeing everyone as wonderfully created by God.
Throughout this week and every day, we are continuing to share this foundational knowledge and creating opportunities to participate in reconciliation activities that teach our students about First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture and traditions.
Blessings,
Mrs. Kleparchuk, Principal
Mrs. Crowston, Vice Principal

Does Your Child Have a Growth Mindset?
Has your child or teen become less motivated with school or activities? Or do you feel they give up on challenges and see making mistakes as ‘failures’? Fortunately, we can support our children through this by helping to develop a growth mindset. A growth mindset is having the belief that we can actually improve our intelligence and strengthen our skills by putting in effort, facing challenges and being open to learning from mistakes.
The most effective praise we can give our children is praise that is concrete and focuses on their effort, strategy, or improvement.
This might sound like:
“You worked so hard!”
“That seemed tough but you really stuck with it!”
“Hmm. How can we learn from this?”
Model with your own behaviour by saying “Wow, this is really challenging. I’m going to have to practice more!”
If we praise children for their efforts and hard work, instead of the end result, we can show them while they may not be perfect at something, or know something YET, they will improve if they keep working at it. Having this mindset can be a big motivator for your child and give them that extra confidence boost they need as they navigate growing up!

Anti-Bullying Week
The affirmation this week was: I am KIND! We talked about how kindness can occur in how we use positive labels toward others and the JH students completed an activity about positive words with Miss Josey, Mrs. Kleparchuk and Mr. Kary. The adults at Legal School care about the students and we are here to put an end to bullying!
At Legal School, we have a 3 Minute Rule! It only takes 3 minutes to find an adult and report any bullying that may be happening! Let's put an end to bullying!
