4th Quarter! Exciting times as students make the final push to the end of the school. And, a time for our seniors to get their, “last times” in. Parents, if your student is struggling in school I want you to know that I am available to help. And if I can’t help with your particular situation, I will find someone who can.
If there is any way I can help, please let me know. Thanks, Mike

College Credit Information for Juniors and Sophomores
Earn College Credit at No Cost this Summer (2021)
Kirkwood Community College is offering courses this (2021) summer. These courses are for current juniors and current sophomores. There is no cost to the student for taking these courses. Upon successful completion students receive both college credit and high school credit. There is still time to register for these courses. (Registration closes on Friday, April 9.) Let me know if you need assistance with this process.
Fall 2021 College Credit Courses @ KCC
I have a couple of updates related to fall 2021 college credit courses @ KCC.
Academy Programs - There is still time to register for a 2021 - 2022 Academy Program. The registration deadline is Friday, April 9. Information about April orientation sessions will be sent out on April 12. All students interested in taking an academy must participate in an orientation session. You can reach out to Hailey Hebl
(Hailey.Hebl@kirkwood.edu) if you have questions about academy programs @ KCC.
Alternative Concurrent Enrollment Courses - high school juniors and sophomores wanting to enroll in single college credit courses for fall 2021 can begin that process now. Completing this process does have its challenges, especially for students looking to take a college course for the first time. I will be reaching out to students and assisting them with this process. Ideally, I want students to have registered for their fall college credit courses by May 7.
Career Exploration Opportunity
WLC Fall 2021 Internships
Solon High School Juniors and sophomores have an opportunity to complete a 60 hour work-site internship and earn three elective credits for your experience. The internship is a planned and supervised career experience and is offered through the Workplace Learning Connection. Through this experience, “Interns learn new skills, apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting, develop employability behaviors that better prepare them for the workplace, and gain insight that will help them make more informed career choices.” (TWLC)
All applications are due by 3PM on Friday, April 16th.
