Platteville Middle School
Odds and Ends
I hope the new year is off to a great start. It certainly has at the middle school and it's hard to believe half the school year is done already! As we start the second semester, I hope to continue to build upon the partnership needed between families and the school. If at any time you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact myself or the teachers.
Even though the winter has been an unusually warm one, it is still a "Wisconsin Winter". Please continue to send your child with appropriate clothing. Hats, gloves, and coats are necessary for all students. For 4th and 5th grades that will be doing sledding, boots and snowpants are needed.
As we transition into February, I will be communicating information about the new state assessment: The Wisconsin Forward Exam. Part of the reason Platteville Middle School received the Blue Ribbon Award was because of our students' performance on the state assessment. As a staff, we want to make sure we take the necessary steps to ensure our students do their best.
Thanks,
Jason Julius
Platteville Middle School Principal

PTO-Volunteers Needed
PTO is looking for volunteers to help count, sort & cut Box Tops, milk labels, milk caps, etc.
These items are turned in throughout the year by students and, in turn, are sorted by PTO and submitted to the various programs. Anyone interested in helping, even for a short time, may contact Caryn Stanley at cmstanley74@gmail.com. The schedule is flexible and volunteers are needed at this time and will be needed again in February.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
Thank you to all that donated and contributed to the success of Platteville Middle School’s blood drive! On January 7th, we collected 20 units of blood from 23 donors, 9 of which were first-time donors. You all not only saved lives, but helped our school receive a $250.00 educational fund that will be used for student transportation expenses, specifically the 7th & 8th grade ski trip. We hope to see you next year at this annual community event.
