“Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I may always be holy!” St. Augustine
Blessings to all as we get closer to the wonderful holiday of Thanksgiving.
Spirit Day. Our next Spirit Day will be Tuesday, Nov 20. Students may wear their Spirit Day shirts on that day. Students may opt to dress down on this day for $1.00 or a canned food item to donate to the Samaritan Center. This is the same day that we have our annual 8th Grade vs Faculty Volleyball game at 2:00 in the gym. All are invited.
Work has begun on the inside of church and construction materials take up much space. Students mass attendance was adjusted this week to accommodate the available space. Some of the grades attended Mass on Wednesday and other grades attended on Thursday.
After School Care Program. Last week there was an announcement in the STAR about a letter going home to parents of children who use the school’s after school care program. This letter described changes that would be made to the program in January, 2019. Fr. Medina and Mrs. Heberlie met with concerned parents and parishioners on Tuesday, Nov. 17 to answer questions and hear concerns. The meeting concluded with the decision not to move forward with outsourcing the program as described in the letter but to continue the program as it exists. Parents and parishioners volunteered to recruit additional supervisors and volunteers to address the immediate needs. St. Stanislaus School Advisory Board will take the leadership to form a committee to redesign the program. Jenna Korsmeyer, the School Board President may be contacted for more information (573-619–0634 or jenna.korsmeyer@gmail.com). The School is thankful for all those who have worked in our program over the years. More information regarding this will be shared in the STAR.
The snow days arrived early this year! On Monday’s early release and Thursday’s cancellation of school due to snow, the school was able to utilize the Option C Parent Alert. This alert is sponsored by Mid-America Bank who pays the cost for this service. Please join me in thanking them for their support.
On Monday, I was able to send out a voice, text, and email message to the addresses you provided. On Thursday, I sent out a text and email message, but the voice message did not work from my home computer. Hopefully, you received school closing information in a timely manner. Announcements were made on local TV stations, and it was posted on our Facebook page.
The school calendar had three snow days built into the calendar. We can miss two more snow days without having to be concerned about making up days. Because students attended enough instructional hours on Monday, that “day” does not need to be made up.
Thank you for your continued prayers for our staff members who are undergoing surgery or treatments.
On behalf of the faculty and staff here at St. Stanislaus School we wish you a blessed, joyous, and safe Thanksgiving.
