Library News
Students in Grades 3-5 have been learning about Beanstack. Beanstack is a fantastic new resource students and teachers have access to through Leander's Launchpad/Classlink. It's available for ALL Larkspur students! Beanstack provides the opportunity for students to log their reading, write reviews, complete challenges, earn digital badges, and more! There's an app available for tablets and phones. Just follow these steps to log on-
On a mobile device (iPad/iPhone/Tablet): Parents need to download the ClassLink app, then use the back arrow to search and select Leander ISD to get to the correct log in page. It's always the one with the rocketship!
To access Beanstack on a computer at home, follow these steps-
On other personal devices: Students may go to this link (launchpad.classlink.com/leander) to log in to the ClassLink Launchpad. Remember, it's always the log in page with the rocketship!
The Storybook Pumpkin Patch is coming soon! Students are invited to participate by decorating a real or fake pumpkin to look like a book character. Please do not carve or poke holes in real pumpkins so that the library doesn't get stinky! Forms are available in the library and on the Library site. You can also see some examples of pumpkins from last year. Pumpkins should be brought to the library on Oct. 24th or 25th. Can't wait to see all the pumpkins!
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bresnehen at carrie.bresnehen@leanderisd.org.

Propositions A & B
The ballot for this November’s federal, state, and local elections will include two propositions related to Leander ISD.
Proposition A is an Attendance Credit Election. Due to an increase in the level of property values per student in Leander ISD, the state is removing about $31.2 million from our district through the process known as recapture, or Robin Hood. If LISD voters approve Proposition A, the district will make its required recapture payment to the state. If Proposition A fails, the state will look for other ways to remove revenue from LISD. For example, the state could force some taxpayers in our district to start paying taxes to a different district instead of LISD.
Proposition B is a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election. By approving Proposition B, voters would ratify the tax rate set by the LISD Board of Trustees — a rate that is 6.24 cents lower than last year’s rate. Due to rising property values, the average tax payment would be about $38 per month higher than the average payment last year under Proposition B. Passage of Proposition B would generate an additional $32 million for academics in LISD, including teacher pay and the continuity of programs.
For much more information about these propositions, please visit LeanderISD.org/elections. You can also sign up for informational text-message updates by texting @LISDMoney to 81010. You can also text-message your questions to 512-399-0068.

Parenting the Love and Logic Way
This six-week program is designed to help parents nurture responsible, respectful, fun-to-be-around children who will learn how to make their own choices, own their problems, think critically and logically for themselves, while parents let empathy and consequences do the teaching. The course is appropriate for parents with any aged child and any situation: home, school or even work. The series is open to any parent. Visit the Love and Logic site or attend a free introductory session for more information about their philosophy.
The cost is $35 per person or $55 per couple (if sharing materials). Scholarships are available. Learn more and register for Love & Logic here.
