One School One Book
This month our school will be embarking on a special project, an all-school book club called One School, One Book. Every family will receive a copy of the same book and will be asked to read it together at home over the next few weeks. I am personally asking you to make the time so that your family can participate in this special activity.
Reading aloud at home is valuable because it better prepares your child to be an effective reader, and it is also a fun, worthwhile family activity. With the One School, One Book program, we aim to build a Community of Readers at our school. Everyone – students, parents, teachers, even administrative staff will all be following along together.
Your child will receive a copy of our carefully selected title at a special school-wide assembly introducing the program and the book. Along with the book, you will receive a reading schedule so that you can keep up at home. Generally, you will be asked to read about 15 minutes each night.
Time for Parent Teacher Conferences
Teachers will be scheduling 1st quarter conferences with all parents the beginning of October.
Research shows a partnership between
teachers and parents increases student success.
We look forward to seeing all parents for this special conference.

HEALTHY KIDS MAKE BETTER LEARNERS
From the Cafeteria...it's National School Lunch Week
Our National School Lunch week is October 9-13. We would like to see parents come and join their student for lunch. We will be serving some special items that week such as: Steak Nachos, Fruit Explosion, and Speedway Burger!
Encourage your child to eat with us in the cafeteria. If they are not sure of what an item is, we can give them a sample.
We also have a Special Prize Day the first of every month and also a Birthday Bash where the student receives a birthday ice for birthdays in each month. Hope to see you and your student this month!
PTO News
For the month of October we have our special Trunk or Treat event on on October 26th at McDonald's. We can't wait to see the great trunks each family has designed!

Out of this World Staff
Our cafeteria staff are behind the scenes worker bees in our school who ensure that all of our students are fed breakfast and lunch everyday. They do a wonderful job!
Our Connect Teachers do an amazing job of teaching all the students in the school. Music, Art, PE, STEM, Digital Tools and Media are some of our students favorite classes in the school. These teachers reach all 900 students each week here at A.T. Allen. They are truly amazing individuals.
