From the Principal's Desk
Greetings Cougars!
As you already know, we will be returning to face-to-face instruction in a revised Cohort Model beginning Tuesday, January 19th!
- Cougar Cohort students will report for face-to-face instruction this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Pride cohort students will report for face-to-face instruction on Thursday and Friday.
- Remember, all students go to school five days a week in some capacity; students, this means you will need to tune into all classes virtually on the days when you are not learning in-person! To do this, just go to the Google Classroom for the class you are scheduled for for that hour and click on the link to the "virtual classroom" just like you have been doing during virtual learning.
- We are on a BLOCK schedule, meaning each day you will only attend four of your eight periods. Our first day back, Tuesday, January 19th, is an EVEN day, so your first class to go go is your Period 2 class!
- Click on the Revised Cohort Calendar button below to see what dates you will be learning in-person and what dates you will be learning remotely, and which days to attend your odd period (1,3,5,7) and even period (2,4,6,8) classes.
- Click on the Cohort Bell Schedule button below for the times you will need to report to your classes and your Advisory (required). As a reminder, on your non in-person days, you do not need to report to Study Hall or Power Hour...enjoy this time away from your screen!
There's just four days left of first semester everyone, so let's make the most of it! On behalf of the CHS staff, WELCOME BACK STUDENTS! We can't wait to see you!
Mrs. Franz
P.S. As a reminder there is NO SCHOOL on Monday 1/18 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
The Week Ahead...

Early College Credit Program - Deadline for Summer Classes Quickly Approaching!
Are you a current 10th or 11th grade student interested in taking college courses this summer? If you desire to take college courses at a university college while still enrolled in high school, it is called the EARLY COLLEGE CREDIT PROGRAM [ECCP].
The state application deadline for students wishing to take SUMMER classes in 2021 through ECCP is February 1st. All applications submitted to the Counseling Office on or before January 27th will be processed at the February Board meeting. Applications submitted between 1/28 - 2/1 will not be able to be processed until the March Board meeting. So, for all you planners out there...if you get your application in earlier, rather than later, you will know if you are approved to take the classes about a month sooner!
Here are links to more information regarding ECCP to include the application:

Clinton Connect Families ONLY
Clinton Connect Families,
Semester I ends on 1/22 and there are a LOT of Discussion Based Assessments that need to be completed! Be sure and remind students to schedule those now please.
Also, all CC students should stay tuned for a very important email from Ms. Weber-Johnson regarding your course schedule for Semester II.
Mrs. Weber-Johnson
Semester II Schedule Changes
Also as a reminder, we highly recommend no more than ONE study hall a semester for all students, 9-12. Students - please do not submit a schedule change request for seven study halls...that's crazy! :) Thank you also in advance for understanding that we have very little wiggle room this year for changes, in efforts to keep numbers in cap for the semester.
Covid-19 Responsibility Pass "Release Time"
We will be extending Responsibility Pass privileges to students Grades 10-12 again this semester!
Students who meet the criteria below are eligible for one hour of release time from school during Semester II:
The student must have a Cumulative GPA of 3.0
The class period is scheduled as a study hall
The student had zero failing grades in the semester prior to application
The student had zero referrals in the semester prior to application
The student had zero unexcused absences in the semester prior to application
The student had not be absent more the ten (10) times in the previous two semesters (Dr. notes exempt)
Conditions which terminate this privilege:
Truancy – any unexcused absence
Any referral written – Major or Minor
A failing grade at any grading checkpoint
Parent requested revocation
Involvement in any unlawful or delinquent activities during release
Not returning to school in a timely manner
If the student uses more than the ten (10) allotted absences (Dr. notes exempt)
Parameters of Responsibility Pass:
The student must be out of the building prior to the start of the next class
The student must leave school grounds or may choose to sign in to meet with a teacher
The student must sign in and out at the main office
If the Responsibility Pass is revoked the student will report to an assigned study hall
If you (1) Are a student enrolled in the Cohort Model; (2) in grades 10, 11 or 12; (3) who meets the eligibility requirements listed above, and (4) are interested in applying for a Responsibility Pass, then click the button below to apply.

Please note that rentable gowns will be issued on a first come first served basis and that supplies are limited. Students renting a gown will still need or order a cap and a tassel from Jostens. You will need to call Jostens at (262) 706-3331 to do this, as individual caps are not featured on the webstore. Feel free to reach out to the main office with any questions.
Please be sure that your senior student has also completed the Senior Class Graduation Form (click button below) so that we have their full legal name for diplomas!
Let's talk LOCKERS!
Service Learning Hours - Reduction for Class of 2021
We understand that completing service learning hours has not been easy for many of our students due to Covid-19. As a result, the CCSD Board of Education recently voted to decrease the number of required service learning hours for the Class of 2021. Seniors will now be required to complete only 22 hours of service learning, instead of the original 30 hours. As a reminder, students who are not successful in completing the 22 required hours of service will not be permitted to walk at the graduation ceremony.
We encourage students to continue to keep tabs themselves on their progress toward fulfilling this graduation requirement. They can view the exact service learning hours they have accrued in Skyward using the following steps:
Login to Skyward Student Access
Click “Student Info”
Under their school picture, view “Service Learning Hours”
Remember - Service learning opportunities are updated weekly on the CHS - Counseling Webpage. We look forward to working with you to help your student successfully fulfill this requirement. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Karli Paynter, at (608) 676-2223 ext 2144 or kapaynter@clintonwis.com.
Congratulations to our Seniors who have successfully fulfilled all of their Community Service Hours!

Parking Passes
Parking passes are required in order to park in the Clinton High School parking lot! An application, available in the high school office, along with a fee of $25 dollars must be turned into the main office. Driving a snowmobile to school? You do not need to purchase a parking pass. However, we DO need to provide the main office with a copy of your registration and your insurance for our records.

New Service Learning Opportunity
THE VOICES OF WISCONSIN STUDENTS PROJECT LEARNING, COPING, AND BUILDING RESILIENCE DURING COVID-19
New opportunity for students to share their voices!
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), the Medical College of Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service (WIPPS) Research Partners are providing Wisconsin youth an opportunity to share thoughts, concerns, and insights on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students. WIPPS Research Partners will conduct a series of twenty (20) Zoom small group discussions with Wisconsin middle and high school students in late January and February 2021.
WIPPS will gather information about how students are coping during COVID-19; identify challenges, as well as examples of success and resilience; and obtain feedback about students’ learning experiences. This project will help DHS, school leaders, and community organizations improve and implement services, programs and supports for Wisconsin youth.
