6th grade students invited to display artwork at The Woodmere Art Museum
Thirty of our 6th grade Panthers were recently honored as they have been invited to have their artwork displayed at The Woodmere Art Museum located at 9201 Germantown Avenue, Chesnut Hill, PA 19118.
Their artwork will be part of "Kids Care, an exhibition of artwork from hundreds of children in the Philadelphia region. [These pieces of artwork will] be given as holiday gifts to families in need. This partnership with MANNA (The Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) engages young people with the beauty of sharing and caring about others."
"This year's theme, Landscape Journeys, is inspired by Woodmere's collection of Hudson River School artists whose 19th-century landscape paintings convey the natural beauty of the American landscape.
The exhibit will be on display in The Helen Millard Children’s Gallery, within the Woodmere Art Museum beginning November 12th and continuing through December 18. An open house will be held on December 10th between 1:00 - 3:00 pm.

American Indian Month November 9th - December 2nd.
A Little History...
Native American Heritage Month has evolved from its beginnings as a week-long celebration in 1986, when President Reagan proclaimed the week of November 23-30, 1986 as "American Indian Week." In 1990 President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November 1990 “National American Indian Heritage Month”. Every President since 1995 has issued annual proclamations designating the month of November as the time to celebrate the culture, accomplishments, and contributions of people who were the first inhabitants of the United States.
Here are a few facts... Did you know?
As of 2022, 2.09% of the U.S. population identified as American Indian or Alaska Native, which is around 6.79 million Americans.
There are about 574 federally recognized Native American tribes in the U.S.
More than 27,000 people who identify as American Indians currently live in Pennsylvania.
The two largest Native American tribes are Cherokee Nation and Navajo Nation. Learn more
Native Americans are considered to be the first group to have created anesthetics and analgesics. Often deriving from natural products and ointments, such as plants and flowers, they established a revolutionary form of medicinal healing, long before European doctors had knowledge of such possibilities.
More than half of the states in the U.S. have names that come from Native languages, one of the most familiar groups being the Algonquian languages. Three examples of this are Oklahoma, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
