Leadership Message
Growing Brains, Sharing Smiles...
What an amazing start-up we have had at JV! From welcoming our littlest learners into kindergarten to seeing the maturity of our grade fours as our new leaders! A sincere appreciation is extended to our parents and families for your trust in the staff at Jean Vanier Catholic School. We recognize the beautiful opportunity and responsibility that is placed in our hands and hearts as we walk with your children on their faith and learning journeys.
Throughout our school, teachers and students have been co-constructing their Classroom Promises. Working through this together supports ownership, responsibility, and commitment for our students to be great JV citizens. Ask your child about their classroom promises.
We LOVE our Monday assemblies! This is one of the times we come together as a faith and learning community to pray, celebrate and move together! We will alternate between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm to accommodate for our afternoon kindergarten. We LOVE to have our families there-please join us anytime! During our weekly assembly we will give our JV village a weekly challenge that relates to our weekly scripture reading. This week we challenged our village to, "say hello to someone you don't know." This weekly challenge will align with our Division theme-"Challenge Accepted-We are EICS".
Welcome Back Assembly!
Some of Classroom Promises
You are AWESOME to the CORE, Davies Family!
"Welcome back to staff, students, and families of Elk Island Catholic Schools!"
Our little big girl will march her way into kindergarten at Jean Vanier while big sister makes her mark in grade three. Mom and dad know that they're going to need to make sure they keep their energy up throughout the day if we want to be picking up little angels at the end of their days. Naturally an apple may help in this cause and we're happy to once again be bringing fresh, BC fruit to the staff, students, and families of EICS.
Sun Best Fruit (and myself) are absolutely delighted to let you know that we will once again be providing apples to EICS throughout our fall season-hopefully right up until the Christmas break. Sun Best Fruit is once again donating the fruit as a sign of thanks to you for teaching our children the importance of making healthy choices.
Donations/sponsors needed: Please be sure to get in touch with me when convenient so that we can discuss the logistics of bringing our JV kids BC fresh produce through to the end of June. While we won't be "in operation" in the area during this time and won't be able to donate to the produce we would certainly love to bring you what we can, at cost.
Yours in good health,
Kelly Davies

Power School
PowerSchool
We ask all families to log onto PowerSchool to sign and review important forms:
There are three yearly consent forms: Technology Use, Field Trip, and Locker Use Agreement.
Also all families need to go into School Engage within PowerSchool. In this section you need to complete the 2017-2018 EICS Student Data Verification. This form is very important as it provides the school with the most accurate contact information, consent, and FOIPP. Please complete before Sept. 29.
School fees can be paid through your PowerSchool account on ACORN. If paying fees is a financial difficulty, you may be eligible for our fee waiver program, which is accessible online.
If you have any questions or are having trouble logging into your account or unsure if your forms are complete please contact the school office.
