Myers-Wilkins Wolf Tracks
April 2017 - Issue 7
Greetings!
I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Spring Break. We have only 8 weeks of school left and it will go by very quickly. We have lots of exciting events coming up which includes Kindergarten Graduation June 2nd, 5th grade Graduation June 7th, Field Day June 8th, Teacher Appreciation Week May 1st-5th, and Family Nights. We are finalizing the details on many of these events. Please ensure to check the attached calendar and look for information on many of the events in our May Newsletter.
As the days warm up and we get some wet weather please ensure to send your child in appropriate gear for the weather outside. If you need support with this please contact Laura or Seiquayia at ext. 2501. Also remember to check the lost and found if your child has lost a piece of clothing.
Thank you for all you do for your child(ren) here at Myers-Wilkins. We appreciate your support.

Parent Student Advisory Council
Myers-Wilkins has a very active and inclusive parent group. Our next PSAC meeting will be on April 18th from 5:15-6:30. We will have a special visitor: the new Director of the Lake Superior Zoo, who wants to talk to local families about how they might improve the exhibits and educational programs. You can also find out about how to get involved in upcoming events, like the Bike Rodeo, Staff Appreciation Lunch, Beautification Projects, and ongoing volunteer opportunities. Free childcare and transportation is provided. Please contact Jen Eddy to arrange for transportation. A free dinner will follow in the cafeteria.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Fundraising Event for Playground
Myers Wilkins families have been instrumental in getting the Duluth School Board pass a resolution to replace the current tire mulch on our public school playgrounds with a non-toxic surface. Replacement will be expensive for an already-strapped district budget, and local parents have been organizing to help to defray the costs. We want to show that we can promote a healthy environment for our kids AND save jobs in the district!
To help in this effort, please buy a ticket and/or attend the Earth Day Fundraiser on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Skyline Lodge in Hermantown from 4:30-7:30 pm. A ticket will give you the chance to win up to $300 cash (you need not be present to win), and if you attend, you can enjoy a free taco and pizza bar, a cash bar, and the chance to bid on wonderful items that have been donated by local businesses. Up to $30,000 raised will be matched by the Miller Family Fund. You can buy tickets from Dee Dee in the office. Children can attend the event for $5.
You can also volunteer to help out. Please contact M-W parent Avesa Rockwell at avesaisis@gmail or 218 724-3132.
