Guaranteed Admissions Pathways
Durham Tech transfer students can choose from five guaranteed admissions pathways.
All of these programs admit students at the beginning of their time at Durham Tech, rather than when it’s time to apply to transfer. They all offer extra advising and guidance from the four-year universities while you are completing your associate’s degree, as well as opportunities to participate in events on campus. So, if you are planning to transfer in Fall 2023, now is the time to apply to a guaranteed admissions pathway at your desired transfer destination.
If UNC Chapel Hill is your goal, C-STEP may help you get there. The next application deadline is October 1. Here’s a link to the application and more information. For questions, please contact Lea Bingham.
Join Pirate Promise, a guaranteed admissions pathway to ECU. Its application opens in mid-September.
Aggie Plus is a pathway to NC A&T University. Students can complete the application form at any time. Just e-mail the Transfer Center for the link.
Students can fill out a letter of intent to join UNC Wilmington’s Pathways to Excellence program year-round. Watch a tutorial on how to submit their Pathway to Excellence agreement here.
Community College Collaboration, or C3, is our guaranteed admissions pathway to NC State. Students can apply in late October, and admissions are rolling up until June 1. If you have questions, contact Dr. Catherine Ward.
For more information on any of these programs, please contact Lea Bingham.

Juniors Take the PSAT - Oct. 13
The PSAT is the qualifying test for entry to the 2021 National Merit Scholarship. Moreover, this is a great opportunity to take the test without paying a registration fee. The exam will start by 9:00 am at MCHS, and will last until approximately 1:30 pm, standard administration.
There are a limited number of slots available. If you are interested in taking the PSAT, please complete this PSAT Interest Survey Form by Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
Plan Ahead:
- The DTCC Absence Form: An excused absence is defined as a planned absence. Durham Tech students are allowed one (1) excused absence per class per term for a planned event or observance. Students who wish to use an excused absence must submit an Excused Absence Notification form and any supporting documentation at least fourteen (14) calendar days in advance of the scheduled absence date.
There are no exceptions to this deadline. Start this process NOW!
2. You will be required to attend a pre-registration meeting to complete demographic information prior to the test. Emails will be sent directly to registered students with dates and details.
Additional Information about the PSAT for students and parents can be found at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10
