ART - Mrs. Fritch
LANGUAGE ARTS - Ms. Nuhanovic and Mrs. McGee
MATH - Ms. Lamb
Math classes have been busy learning about adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integers. We just completed the first part of the unit one assessment, which covered addition and subtraction of integers. We will continue with multiplication and division next week, and hopefully complete the other part of unit assessment Wednesday and Thursday. Our next unit will be covering adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing rational numbers.
Every math student has received worksheets in class that they are able to take home and work on for further practice of current material. All I ask is that they bring them back. Also, class assignments are available to print from Canvas.
Advanced Math
Advanced math has been working hard on grasping the concept of solving one and two step inequalities. We have worked together in large group, small group, and independently, on solving inequalities with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The assessment over this first unit will be September 24th and 25th.

SOCIAL STUDIES - Mrs. Sullivan
In Social Studies we are going to learning about some of the major civilizations of the Americas; Olmec and Maya are first, Aztec and Inca to follow. We will problem solve how the Olmec were able to move such large chunks of stone to create their famous sculptural heads! We are considering a few food days maybe a day of chocolates for the Maya, and potatoes for the Inca. If you have a great recipe you want to share with the kids I know they will love it! I will be sure to let you know as those days approach. Please feel free to check Canvas for more information about what we are studying and work that students are engaging in.
SCIENCE - Ms. Noonan
In science we are busy learning about gravity and how it affects the movement of objects in our solar system. We are looking forward to going outside this week to look at how far away each planet is from the sun. We will also be taking our first test this week about mass and gravitational pull.
Advanced Science- In advanced science we are starting with life science. The first unit we are working on is genetics. This week are looking at how mutations on specific genes can change the function of how that gene will work.
