Welcome Spartans, Class of 2031!
SWHS Kindness Week
- Monday: Spartans were given note cards to write notes about someone who has positively impacted them.
- Tuesday: The completed note cards were used to create a Kindness Wall. This wall was to show how kindness can positively impact someone's life.
- Wednesday: Clothespins with positive messages were handed out to our Spartans. Spartans were encouraged to pass along their clothespin to someone who did not have one and continue passing the kindness along to one another. During lunch, students participated in "Mix It Up." Students were encouraged to sit with peers that they may not usually interact with during this time.
- Thursday: Students were met with words of encouragement on the walls of the restrooms. Students were also asked to write a statement of positive impact that a staff member had on them.
- Friday: Spartans participated in a school-wide assembly complete with high energy games and songs. Spartans participated in games such as Ships and Sailors, musical chairs, and whipped cream digging for gum. The Southwestern High School principal, Mr. Chase, received a pie in the face. Spartans surprised Mr. Tyler Cooper, Facilities/ Maintenance Director, recognizing him for his kindness to our Spartans by always putting others first.
Please enjoy the pictures below from Southwestern High School's Kindness Week.

Send Us Your Spartan Special Moments!
Our community is extremely proud of the many accomplishments and positive stories involving the students, teachers, staff and programs at Southwestern Consolidated Schools of Shelby County that we may not always get to hear. If you would like to have your positive story shared with the Spartan Nation, please send the details to Mrs. Lindsay Chase, Curriculum and Communications Director. We would love to share your positive stories that include personal achievements of your child such as serving as a volunteer in a non-profit organization, earning awards or recognition in 4-H, earning badges in Girl Scouts, etc, etc. You may just see your story in a future edition of "The Spartan Special" or in The Shelbyville News! We want to celebrate our Spartans. You can't hide that Spartan pride!
