Week of January 10
Jan. 17th - No School: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Happy New Year!
Winter weather has arrived and with that more people are using the car loop. I am including a few tips to help with car loop drop off and pickup.
- Once you have entered the MTMS car loop/ parking lot and come to a complete stop have your student exit your car.
- Do not wait to get right up to the door of the school. This causes significant delays. If you are concerned about your child getting cold while walking to the door of the school have them wear winter weather clothing. Students do have lockers that they can put coats in during the day.
- If you are the first car in the loop, please pull all the way up to the cross-walk at the end of the side . This allows us to maximize the number of students who can be dropped off at one time.
- Have your student ready to get out of the car when you stop.
- Do not take a short cut through the MTMS parking lot after or before dropping of your student. This is a safety concern for those in the parking lot. Additionally, it has the potential to cause major interruptions to the traffic flow.
- Watch your speed in the parking lot, and be aware of others in the car loop.
When temperatures or wind chills are below 20 degrees the building will open early for students to enter the school. They will be asked to sit in the hallway. At 7:35 they will move to the gym or commons until released for class.

Masks are part of being School Ready
We appreciate your support in ensuring your child is ready for the school day: MacBook charged, paper, binders, notebooks, pencils, pens, any other items a teacher has required, and masks.
We look forward to a successful 2nd semester.
Timberwolf Success Program
The MTMS Timberwolf Success Program provides students additional opportunities and supports to gain executive functioning skills necessary for school success. It also provides additional time for students to work with MTMS teachers on classroom concepts that they need additional help with understanding. It is made possible by a grant from the USD232 Education Foundation.
The program is available at the school each Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:10pm-4:30pm on days when school is in session. Students will need to report to the Media Center by 3:10pm with assignments/projects to work on and a charged computer.
Students who choose to stay should communicate with their teachers and parents regarding their interest and transportation plan. Teachers may extend invitations to students as well.
8th Grade Pathways
At the culmination of their Novel Creation Projects, 8th Grade Pathways’ students marketed their novels to groups of “Publishing Agents.” Throughout 2nd Quarter, students learned and practiced narrative writing elements and embarked on their own unique novel creations. Students wrote extended pieces that averaged 12,000 words. The students especially tapped into the 21st Century learning skill of creativity throughout the project. It was amazing how the students embraced their creations and were extremely proud of their accomplishments.
