General Maintenance and Electrical
Monthly Report
Work Order Activity - General Maintenance
- The general maintenance team began the month of May with 24 active work orders . We closed 228 work orders by the end of the month and ended the month with 87 active work orders.
QUICK RESPONSE MINIMIZES DAMAGE
The General Maintenance team along with custodial staff responded to a flood in room M1 at Gililland Elementary School. A Victaulic coupler on the fire suppression system sprang a leak over the Mother's Day weekend and flooded the classroom. After receiving a call early on the following Monday morning the guys loaded up the water extraction equipment and sprang into action. Their quick response minimized and contained the impact to a singular classroom. They replaced 11 damaged ceiling tiles and save a room full of carpet squares. After 5 days of remediation protocol the classroom was reopened. Great job guys!
NOT EASILY IMPRESSED
One such project was a rather difficult motor replacement at Boswell High School headed up by HVAC technician, Roger Wolfe.
Wolfe is not a man who is easily impressed. However, when Roger needed help he was shocked by the quality and effort he received from members of the Grounds, Electrical and General Maintenance departments.
Brandon Orellana, Richard Wiese and Thomas Marsh stepped in and assisted in Wolfe's time of need. "If you know me you know I don't impress easy" Wolfe said. "but Richard and those guys really impressed me" he went on to say. Wiese, Orellana and Thomas helped replace the faulty motor which otherwise would have negatively impacted an entire wing of the building.
The trio had planned to work during the weekend on an ongoing renovation project at the district's Agricultural Facility. Orellana had gotten wind of Wolfe's situation and didn't hesitate to lend a helping hand.
What makes this so special is that it signals a change in the maintenance departments overall culture. Gone are the days of the prevailing "it's not my job" mentality. These guys are coming together as a team and working more and more as a unit.
Whether it's the Grounds department helping the plumbers, or General Maintenance helping the electricians, maintenance has taken on a singular and unified definition.
Kitchen Remodel at Saginaw High School
The General Maintenance team began the kitchen remodel at Saginaw High School. They have completely removed both the pony wall and a room dividing wall in preparation to receive the new serving line equipment. They have also began floating the floor area under the old walls in order to reinstall quarry tile and VCT. These guys worked extremely hard and are on schedule to complete the restoration! Great job team!
JLP Back Lot Clean Up
The team removed and relocated large stones and debris from the back of the JLP Maintenance Facility. This is in anticipation of the portable buildings being moved to Wayside Middle School in June.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH FOR MAY
Ruben has a done a great job in keeping on top of his work orders and assisting his team mates! He is extremely conscious and dedicated to his work. His work (along with the help of Richard Wiese and Jesus Rendon) in preparing the Performing Arts Center at Chisholm Trail was phenomenal. The facility has never looked better!
- The Electrical team began the month with 24 active work orders. We closed 86 work orders during this time and ended the month with 53 active work orders.
UPGRADES AT THE AG BARN 🐷🐐
The electrical team continues to make progress on the renovations at the Ag Barn. They have completed the "pig barn". The new service panel has been installed along with all the new light fixtures and outlets. They also completed the exterior lighting. The wiring for the new fans has been put into place. They also began running circuits in the "goat barn". Conduit has been run and the new service panel has been set. The estimated time for completion on this project is mid June which is well ahead of schedule. Shout out to Brandon Orellana, Matt Winchell and John Snider. Brandon has put in a lot of weekend overtime on this project. This project is way ahead of schedule. Great job guys!
Kitchen Remodel At Saginaw High School
The electricians began the project by removing the circuits from the wall that were demolished in the kitchen at Saginaw High School. The materials have been ordered and they will begin running new circuits to the serving lines in the coming weeks .
