Winter 2020: Volume VII Issue II
Superintendent's Message
Dear Montvale Families:
Winter Greetings! I hope 2020 is off to a good start for you and your family. In looking ahead to the rest of 2020, we will be finalizing our strategic plan and using our long range facility plan and demographic study to formulate a comprehensive action plan that will address the needs of our students, staff and community going forward and improve our aging facilities. Please stay tuned as more information will be shared in the near future.
At our recent professional development day, it was discussed that we want our students to strike a balance inside and outside of school. We want our students to learn how to make good decisions in life, sustain strong relationships, work hard in school and not be overly connected with technology. We understand that by being disconnected occasionally from technological devices, we can become more connected as a school community.

Favorite Movie: Field of Dreams
Favorite Vacation: Aruba! However, any beach with my family is the best!

Favorite Type of Food: Italian
Your Favorite Teacher and Why? One of my favorite teachers was Mr. Orzano who taught algebra in junior high. He was very funny and made math class fun and cool. Another awesome teacher was my high school English teacher, Mrs. Schlamm. Her passion for literature was contagious. She made each story come alive. I can still see her transforming into Lady Macbeth when we were studying Shakespeare! I credit these teachers with magnifying my interest in math and reading.
Why Did You Become a Teacher? I became a teacher because I love being with children. I wanted to bring the same wisdom, humor, passion, and joy to my students that my teachers brought to me. It was, and still is, very important to me to be in a position where I can have a positive impact on children while promoting a love of learning. Nothing is more fulfilling than helping a child realize his/her potential. I feel very fortunate to be in this rewarding profession!Fieldstone Middle School

Hobbies: Exercising, shopping, traveling, & watching my boys play sports

Your Favorite Teacher and Why? I have two favorites! My kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Gross, who was absolutely beautiful and not gross! She was so kind and caring; she made me love school! I also loved my sons' kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Giombarresse; she was as amazing as Mrs. Gross and extremely inspirational!
Why Did You Become a Teacher? As far back as I could remember, I loved playing school! I had my own "classroom" setup in my basement with a blackboard, bulletin board, and a desk! Also, I had a really tough time transitioning to middle school (it was called junior high back then), and I wanted to devote my career to helping students adjust better to middle school by being positive and caring, just like my elementary teachers.Professional Development Day for Staff
