ESS Update
Week ending June 4
Update from Mrs. Weber
I am so excited for the next 2 weeks and all the fun events we will have here at ESS! This is the last newsletter of the year.
Thank you all for the support and kindness you showed me throughout the year. I am looking forward to some time at the beach and seeing my daughter and "Grand-pup" in Florida this summer. I will see all of you bright and early on Wednesday September 8th.
Classroom assignments will be coming out closer to the beginning of next school yer . Look for an email from your child's teacher in the beginning of September.
Next year, we will be getting more Chromebooks. There are no plans to send those devices home with K-4 students. We are increasing the number of devices here at school so there is greater in -class accessibility.
Suggested supply lists will be sent home prior to the end of this school year as well as posted on the school website.
Have a wonderful summer-be safe-make sure you read and keep up with Lexia!!! I am so proud of how far you have all come. Best wishes to all our students leaving us-remember once an ESS Rising Star, you are always a Rising Star!!
Summer Outdoor Playground Program:
June 28 – August 6, Mon. 10:00-3:00, Tues.-Fri. 9:00-3:00.
Closed rainy days Register June 28 or later at playground: Booth Hill School, Elizabeth Shelton School, Long Hill School, Mohegan School & Sunnyside School.
This program is for Residents Only. There is no charge. There is a small fee for craft supplies & field trips (participation is voluntary). See more information on the flyer attached below.
All library books and Chromebooks must be returned by Tuesday June 15th. Report cards will not be distributed until all items are returned.
Masks must be worn at all times by all adults when on school grounds. This is a state policy. I thank you in advance with your cooperation with this, especially when myself or ESS staff may need to remind you.
All students must be in their seats by 9:00-the start of the school day. Drop off doors will close at 8:59 to ensure everyone is at their classrooms by that time. If the door is closed, please drive around to the front and we will let your child in.
Only ESS students and staff are allowed on the playground equipment from 9:00-3:45 (or 9:00-1:50 on early dismissal days). You are welcome to stay after pick up time.
Please remember that if you have plans to move before the start of the new school year, let the main office know. This helps us in making class lists. The staff and I devote much time and thought when placing your child in a class. Parental requests for specific teacher placements will not be considered; however if there are any special circumstances regarding class placement, please notify me via email.
As much as I love dogs and puppies, they are not allowed out of the cars on school grounds. This is a district policy for everyone's safety-thank you for following this important rule.
If someone other than yourself is picking your child up at dismissal, please communicate the expectations of how to enter the school grounds and where they should be parking as well as having identification with them. It will ensure a smooth dismissal process.
Students have the opportunity to have many mask breaks throughout the day. They are at the teacher's discretion when and where they take place, they are not scheduled like they were in the beginning of the year. Any time students are sitting silently working, eating or watching anything on the computer at their desks independently, they may pull their masks down. While students are engaged in conversations, their masks must be up and covering their nose and mouth.
PLEASE remember that ALL cars need to enter through Soundview and exit out Willoughby Road for morning drop off AND parent pick up.
Have a great weekend-Mrs. Weber
