PRAIRIE POST
October 11, 2019
Message from the Principal
Hello Prairie Families,
I hope that you all cleared your calendars for the dance this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there on Saturday. Thank you to the PTA for all of their preparation and planning to make this awesome event for our learners possible!
We will continue to learn about how to prevent bullying by being upstanders throughout the month of October. Take a look at the video below called, "You're Braver Than You Believe." All students will watch this video this week to continue to discuss how our actions can impact others. This theme of being upstanders helps us create the type of community that we read about in The Big Umbrella earlier this year... the type of community where all members feel a sense of belonging.
Have a great weekend!
Carly Solberg
Principal
Staff Spotlight
My name is Mr. Booth, and I have been teaching Physical Education at Prairie Elementary for the past 12 years. Prior to teaching at Prairie I taught for 15 years at Hawthorne Elementary. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and earned my Masters Degree in Sports Administration from La Crosse. I have been married to my wife, Renae for 25 years and we have two wonderful boys. Austin, 22, just graduated from UW Wisconsin in May and is now working for 1 year and then plans to attend Law School. Aric, 20, is a Sophomore at UW Wisconsin and is in the Business School studying Actuarial Science and plays on their club soccer team. During the summer, I manage the pool at Merrill Hills which keeps me busy. My favorite pastime is doing things with my family. We love to camp, golf, play tennis and do almost anything active. Go PUMAS!

Christmas Clearing Council
It is the time of year to distribute Christmas Clearing Council applications! For those who do not know, the Christmas Clearing Council (CCC) helps provide Christmas gifts for families who may struggle to afford gifts for their children. It is an awesome program that many families utilize each year. There are a few qualifications: you must be a Waukesha County resident AND your child must be eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch and/or meet the household income eligibility requirements. Please feel free to fill out the application (one per family), and send back to Mr. Endsley or the Prairie Office.
Applications are DUE Friday November 15, 2019.
