Google Classroom- #32
New Updates
Google Classroom had three tabs available last year: stream, people, and about. Stream allowed the teacher to create announcements and assignments, which can be a lot and create a congestive look making it difficult for users to dig through and find the information needed. It's great that Google listens to feedback. They recently, single digits before school, pushed out their new Google Classroom product. The new GS has three tabs: stream, classwork, people.
Stream allows the teacher to post announcements
Classwork allows the teacher to create assignments, ask a question, reuse a post, and add a topic
People this is where you can remove a student, mute a student, and add a teacher collaborator into your Google Classroom
What is Google Classroom?
What can teachers do?
- Give out assignments and set due dates
- Push assignments out to just once class or multiple classes without leaving that classroom
- Push out assignments to all students or specific students in that classroom (think group assignments)
- Assign topics to assignments for organizational purposes and for backtracking, or when a student is absent
- Assign the possible amount of points to receive on an assignment
- Attach links, video, or files to an assignment
- Create announcements in the stream tab to one class or multiple classes. Create announcements for one specific student or all students.
- Allow other teachers into your classroom
- Invite guardians into your classroom to receive summaries: missing work, upcoming work, and class activity (announcements, assignments, and questions)
- Add personalized comments to student's work create a discussion regarding it
- Copy all grades to Google Sheets or download as a CSV
What can students do?
- Receive immediate response regarding questions about an assignment or announcement
- Respond to a question when teacher uses "ask a question" feature
- Receive feedback on turned in assignments that can facilitate conversation between student and teacher
- Can view grades when teacher returns graded assignment
- View upcoming events and work
- If absent, can review work through classwork tab and topic
