Shakespearean Sonnets
9th graders in Mrs. Finney's English class took on the challenge of writing Shakespearean sonnets. Mrs. Finney decided they were so good they had to be shared! So here are the beginnings of 3 special poems:
Procrastination
Why the heck am I always last minute?
Chasing and racing and running out of time
I see the finish line and can't wait to end it,
Not until I cross it will I feel fine.....
Silence
Let me ask you something that puzzles me
Just how does one get to know another?
To most the answer may seem quite easy
But when I see friends I start to wonder....
The Sorcerer
The sun was shining in the sky, so bright,
And clouds were white without a hint of grey
He was a prince, a sorcerer, a knight,
He knew the future greatness held, someday....

Note - Shakespearean sonnets follow this structure:
- They have 14 lines
- They follow the rhyme pattern ABAB CDCD EFEF GG
- Each line has 10 syllables

Got Advice for New Families?
Attention MEA Families!
Do you have any advice you would share with new families to help them get acclimated and even succeed at MEA? Is there something that you wish someone would have told you that would have really helped? The SSC committee is creating an online resource for families who are new to MEA or whose students are moving up to middle or high school. We are looking for your advice on organization, time management, turn-in packets, resources, trouble-shooting, and more. Please use this link to send us your input by the end of April. Thank you!

Parent "Apprentice" & Volunteers for Talent Show Needed!
The MEA Annual Talent Show and Silent Auction is scheduled for Thursday, April 13, 2017. We are in need of parent volunteers to ensure this event is a success! Adira Rosen, current MEA senior and MEA theatre Director has graciously offered to organize the show. However, we need a parent who is willing to help run the show in future years to be her “apprentice” this year since she is graduating (sniff, sniff). We also need parents to help with set up and breakdown. If you are interested in helping in any capacity or have further questions, please email Principal Browne at cbrowne@sandi.net. (Remember, the show can’t go on without the help of volunteers!)
