Fall Tech Challenge- #64
Fall Tech Challenge
What is the SAMR Model?
The SAMR model has a similar concept as Bloom's Taxonomy; however, the SAMR model is for technology. The SAMR model has four different categories for classroom technology integration. The SAMR acronym stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition.
The SAMR model offers a method of seeing how instructional technology might impact teaching and learning. While we often visualize this model as a ladder, it can be misleading, because Substitution and Augmentation might be the best choice for a lesson. While we want our instructional technology use to head into the Modification and Redefinition categories, in fact, great teachers hit every category from time-to-time.
Why This Challenge?
The Fall Tech Challenge, challenges us as educators to grow in our profession with strategically planning a lesson to challenge ourselves and students to create a product and to collaborate beyond our MWISD community.
How Does The Challenge Work
You would need to do one assignment from each level of the SAMR model. So, four different assignments using the level that makes sense for that type of topic or matter.
You can take a picture of your students working on the assignment with a description and share on Twitter or Facebook (make sure we see it), email us the assignment, add us as collaborators with the assignment (gsuite apps), or add us as a co-teacher to your Google Classroom where we can see the assignments.
Don't forget to check out last week's Tech Tip Tuesday Smore that has different examples and links for ideas.
If you're needing help, please don't hesitate to ask. One entry per level completed will enter you into the drawing.
There will be three drawings and with the first drawing choosing their prize. Your prizes for this year are: Lunch provided by Instructional Technology, a Kensington Presenter Pro Remote, and a set of logitech Z200 Stereo Speakers.
