Harmony Library Used Book Sale

So many great donations have poured in for this book sale! You will find gently used adult fiction and non-fiction, as well as children’s books at amazing prices.
Evening Book Discussion/Dinner
Monday, November 26, 6 p.m., Harmony Library
Join us for a delicious dinner, followed by a lively discussion of Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried, a series of short stories about American soldiers fighting in the Vietnam War. The Glocester libraries, the Harmony Library and the Glocester Manton Library, are community partners with the Foster-Glocester Regional Schools, proud recipients of a national Endowment for the Arts Big Read Program grant. Students at Ponaganset High School will be reading this same title, and the author will visit in January 2019.

Community Crafts
Friday, November 2 through Friday, November 30, during library hours, Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: Grades K-5
Children are invited to “drop in” to the Children’s Room to create a craft to brighten someone’s day. In November, we will be making poppy flowers that will be sent to the Veteran’s Home in Bristol, Rhode Island. This craft is part of the program to support the Vietnam Memorial, The Moving Wall, coming to Ponaganset High School.
Hero Story Time
Wednesday, November 7, 11 a.m., Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: 3-5 years old
Join us for a special hero-themed story time. In honor of Veteran’s Day and the Moving Wall’s visit to Glocester, we will have a story time about our nation’s heroes. We will read books about service members and learn what they do to keep us safe. Note: Registration is not required.
Heritage Ballet: Nutcracker Story & Performance
Wednesday, November 7, 5:30 p.m., Glocester Manton Library
Age Level: All Ages
Get into the holiday spirit as Heritage Ballet performers read the iconic story of the Nutcracker. The characters will be brought to life as Heritage Ballet dancers will perform an excerpt from The Nutcracker. After the performance, children will be invited to perform some ballet steps with the dancers.
Thankful Rocks

Grades: K-5
Children in grades K-5 can create a visual reminder for what they are thankful for using paintbrush and paint!
Turkey Time

Grades: K-5
Children in grades K-5 are invited to create some edible turkey masterpieces using sugar cookies and fun decorating supplies.

Career Exploration Workshop

With your library card and access to the Glocester Libraries’ website, you can explore careers, take practice exams, and prepare for graduate school admission exams at your own pace. At this one-on-one workshop, learn how to register for an account, find the resources for your quest, and advance your career goals.

Need help creating our updating your resume? Attend this one-on-one workshop. Bring a written draft of your resume and a USB flash drive to save and/or print your resume.

Cookbook Club

November’s theme is Vietnamese food. Participants will have a choice between two cookbooks: Quick & Easy Vietnamese by Nancie McDermott or Recipes from My Home Kitchen: Vietnamese and American Comfort Food by Christine Ha. If you would like to join, register online and then drop by the Harmony Library to pick up a copy of the book.
Tuesday Movie Matinee

Early New England Ice Harvesting

Join us for this illustrated talk by Jane Hennedy as she provides a crystal-clear look into the process that was once commonplace for people in past centuries. The program includes examples from regional collections on food preservation methods used prior to ice boxes.
Fearless Art Group

Each month, we explore different drawing challenges to spark our creativity and enhance our drawing skills. The topics of exploration are guided by the members. In November and December, will read and discuss the book, The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. A copy of the book is available at the Glocester Manton Library. All levels of art experience are welcome. All materials will be provided.
Writers' Support Group

Read and share your personal projects at this monthly meeting. This adult group is open to writers in all genres.
Crochet Group

Beginners and crocheters that are more advanced are invited to learn and share their experience in a comfortable room for crochet and conversation! Ashley Ledoux, an experienced crocheter, will teach beginners and be available for assistance and advice.
