MTMS Wolf Wire
Week of May 4
Message from Melissa
As we continue through this unprecedented and difficult time, I am more and more aware that each individual handles our current situation differently. Some are mostly unfazed, some more disrupted and some are greatly impacted. Our teachers are like everyone else - they are human and they are also experiencing adversity. I have always been proud of our MT staff, but now I am simply in awe. The way they have responded, the way they have gone above and beyond to continue to care about our kids - and in the midst of their own situations, I am simply at a loss for words. As we enter Teacher Appreciation Week, please take a moment to reach out and let our teachers know how special they are. I could not be more proud to work with such tremendous professionals and compassionate individuals. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Enrollment for the 2020-21 School Year
We recommend completing online enrollment as soon as possible.
Attention 6th Grade Parents
Vaccination requirements for the 2020-2021 school year
According to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment:
Meningococcal (Serogroup A,C,W,Y): Two doses required. Doses should be given at entry to 7th grade (11-12 years) and 11th grade (16-18 years).
6th grade parents: , ALL students currently in 6th grade will need to provide proof of one dose of meningococcal vaccine to start 7th grade in the fall of 2020. The second dose will need to be administered before your student starts 11th grade. This vaccine helps protect your student against bacterial meningitis.
Your shot record might say MCV, MCV4, MCV40, MCV4P, Meneveo or Menactra. All of these will meet the new requirement.
In addition, ALL incoming 7th grade students need to have a Tdap (tetanus, dipertheria, and pertussis) booster shot.
Vaccinations can be obtained at your child’s doctor’s office, most pharmacies (like CVS and Walgreens) as well as the Johnson County Health Department.
If your student has already had these vaccines or when your student receives these vaccinations, please send the records to your nurse ASAP. You can send records by mail, e-mail or fax records to the address listed below or bring to MTMS during open enrollment.
To view vaccination records on file with the school (use a computer, you can’t access this on your phone):
- Go to Skyward Family Access
- Health Info
- Change display option to “Show Vaccinations”
- The Tdap vaccination may be listed as Tdap booster
Documentation of vaccinations must be turned into the school by the 2nd Monday of October, October 12, 2020. If vaccination is not completed, students may not attend school after that date until the required immunization is completed.
If you have any questions, please contact Theresa Koeckeritz, MTMS School Nurse.
