Message from the Principal
We have just concluded the first progress reporting period of the school year and there is so much learning happening in our school community! Secondary parents, be sure to check Powerschool regularly so you are aware of your student’s grades. To assist students in grades K-6, we are proud to announce the re-opening of PALS (Peer Academic Lab for Students) this week. We have a stellar group of trained tutors who are eager to work with their younger peers from 8:30-10:30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays! We also have some important updates around campus safety that have come from multiple parent and staff meetings over the last several months.
- Beginning tomorrow, October 30, 2018, we will be locking the gates by the elementary wing and the garden at 9am. The elementary gate will be open again briefly at noon, but will be locked again until 3pm. This may take some getting used to, however, it is in the best interest of our students.
- It is school policy that K-6 students be accompanied by a parent at all times unless the student is in class with their grade level teacher or in PALS. For all extra-curriculars and other events, parents are expected to supervise their children.
- Parents, please wear your MEA lanyard and ID badge at all times when on campus. If you do not have a lanyard and badge, please contact Linda Ele at lele@sandi.net. All other visitors should have a visitor sticker from the front office visible.
- The Family Study/Parent Room is for parents or parents with their students ONLY. Children are not allowed in the parent room unaccompanied by an adult. Please help to keep the parent room tidy.
- Adults must use adult restrooms. This includes those labeled staff and the single stalled bathroom near the elementary wing. Adults should never use student restrooms. Better signage is forthcoming.
- If you see someone you do not know on campus and they are not wearing a lanyard or visitor badge, you can always introduce yourself or immediately contact the office at 858-496-8778 if you are concerned.
Thank you for all that you do to help make MEA the best learning community it can be!
