STEAM-U Learning Opportunities
Presented by the John Thomas School of Discovery SY2018 - 19
September 2018 - June 2019
Once again, GOCSD is partnering with STEAM-U during the 2018-2019 school year to offer a unique set of professional learning opportunities in an authentic, hands-on setting.
Join us at John Thomas School of Discovery 312 N. Market St., Nixa, MO to experience K-6th grade classrooms actively engaging in each topic of professional learning listed below. Sessions run from 9:00a – 12:00 noon.
All sessions combine an exclusive mixture of presentations, observations, and reflection with REAL teachers and students in a REAL school.
The first session - Strategically Planning Project-Based Experiences: A Backwards-Based Approach to Project-Based Learning Experiences Audience: K-6 Teachers - kicks off on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
Session Description:
Project-based, problem-based, real-world, student centered- whatever you call it, we’re providing maximum opportunities for engagement and learning. What does it take to effectively plan these experiences? How do we know we are truly assessing the standards we need to be? How do we ensure we are maximizing learning and remaining intentional. Journey with us as we share our process for planning high quality, intentional project-based learning experiences.
