Welcome Back Edition
Important Information
We will host lunch visitors beginning September 25th for grades 1-5 and October 9th for kindergarten students. We do this because it is important for students and teachers to be given time to practice procedures and settle in to the new school year with their classmates.
Parent/Teacher Communication
The preferred method of communication between parents and teachers is via email or phone, not text messages. We do like our teachers to have the opportunity to practice Habit 7, Sharpen the Saw, daily so they are at their best each day for students. This means unplugging from work daily, which includes emails. Please give teachers at least 24 hours to answer an email. If you have not gotten a response in 48 hours, it would be appropriate to contact administration.
Transportation Changes
If your child will need to go home a different way than normal, you need to send in a note to his/her teacher. If your child attends an after school program (at Rea View, or privately) please be sure to contact your program director with the transportation change as well as your child's teacher. If you find a need arises to change transportation during the school day, please call the office and be prepared to give the TRANSPORTATION CODE WORD (from your yellow information card) to the office staff, and they will inform the teacher of the change. You will not need to fill out a written change. Please reserve this for emergency/special situations.
Bank Days (half days)
There will be 5 days this school year when students will come to school at the regular time and dismiss at 11am. Please mark your calendars for:
Sept 28
Oct 24
December 5
February 7
March 7
Please be sure you prepare for childcare on those days. We will conduct a typical dismissal, just a few hours earlier. The UCPS after school program will take students that are currently enrolled at 11:00 on bank days.
Curriculum Nights
Curriculum nights are designed to give teachers an opportunity to share information on the Common Core Curriculum and classroom procedures. Parents are encouraged to attend without children if possible, but please bring children if necessary.
