GCISD Foundation Grants
Good Evening Pony Parents,
Another busy week at GMS comes to a close. We ended the week with visits from the GCISD Education Foundation Grant Patrol. This is always an exciting event as they deliver the grant recipients for the fall. Many of you may not be aware of the educational experiences the Foundation provides to your child. Each year we are blessed to receive literally thousands of dollars to provide all students with classroom experiences which go above and beyond what our state budget allows. Thank you to Foundation Executive Director Janice Kane for loving GMS and always ensuring our programs are supported!
Last night many Ponies participated in the City of Grapevine Parade. Thank you to the staff and parents for always making certain this is a special evening for our students. It was a beautiful parade and the weather was perfect!
While many students were participating in the parade our Basketball Teams were busy BEATING Dawson Middle School. 7th Grade beat all three teams A, B, and C, and 8th grade fought hard with B and C and came out winners with the A Team. Our coaches and players have been working hard building a successful program and we are just beginning to touch the surface of our abilities.
Have a great week end and stay warm. As always we appreciate your support of all things GMS and we look forward to seeing you during the week!
Have a blessed week,
Linda Young, Principal

GMS STEM Welcomes Ms. Heather Stebbins
Welcome to our newest GMS STEM teacher, Heather Stebbins. Ms. Stebbins is teaching 6th and 7th grade mathematics. A meet and greet is scheduled on December 6th from 6-7 in the GMS Cafeteria.
8TH GRADE Grading Meeting for STEM Biology and Algebra
STEM parents please join Mr. Zahn on December 6th in the lecture hall at GMS from 6-7 to hear communication regarding grading practices in STEM Algebra and STEM Biology courses. This is an opportunity for you to hear from Ms. Sheridan and Ms. Davis regarding how your student is assessed so that together we can be sure that students are mastering content and reaching goals.
As your student is enrolled in these courses please keep in mind that they are engaged in pre-AP, high school level content that increases in complexity even more as we integrate STEM, engineering and design thinking. We want you and your child to be informed so that each student is successful.
STORM CHASER PRESENTATION
7th grade parents- If your child has not returned the release for the Storm Warriors visit on Monday, please do so ASAP. If you can bring it by today, that would be great!! If not, we need it on Monday.

World Wear Project
Our collection bin from World Wear Project for donating used clothing and shoes has been delivered…just in time for Fall! As the weather finally gets cooler and you find that your family is no longer needing their summer clothes and shoes, please consider donating at the conveniently placed bin just outside the Gym entrance doors at GMS. The GMS PTA will receive .12 cents for every pound of clothes, shoes, purses and backpacks, caps and hats, toys, and stuff animals collected. As a bonus, during the month of November, World Wear Project will contribute an additional $100.00 if we exceed 2500 pounds in celebration of Texas Recycles Month. 100% of the items collected will either be reused or recycled! This not only helps our landfills, but also helps others who are less fortunate that we are to have much needed clothing and shoes. Thank you for your support.
We have about 30 laptop sleeves left to sell. Order form is attached. This would make an excellent Christmas gift!
GMS ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE SESSIONS
We ask that your student come equipped with their assignments prepared to engage with the teacher on their point of confusion or with assignments which need to be completed. The front doors will be opened by the teacher from 6:55 - 7:05 and will relock at 7:10. Students must be in their seats in the lecture hall with a working mindset by 7:10. Doors do not open for campus population until 7:30 a.m. This is an excellent opportunity and we have found it to be extremely helpful for all students. Please email me at linda.young@gcisd.net if you would like your child to take advantage of this opportunity.
