Last week during our 2 days of school before Thanksgiving break we had the opportunity of having Midwest Adaptive Sports come to show us the challenges of being handicap by teaching the students how to play blind soccer and wheelchair basketball. They had a lot of fun playing the games and learning what it's like to play sports with a disability.
The students also got to build their CANstruction displays out of the cans that were donated for the food drive. They enjoyed being able to brainstorm and work together to come up with some fun ideas.

WE WANT YOUR FEEDBACK: Please Complete the Parent Survey by Dec. 4
Platte County School District is conducting its annual parent survey to gather feedback on strengths of the district, as well as areas to consider for growth. Your input is important and will be considered when making future decisions.
If you have not already completed the survey during Parent/Teacher conferences, we ask that you complete the survey by clicking on the link below. If you have more than one student, please be sure to answer those questions for each building. The survey should take approximately fifteen minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your feedback!
Congrats to our Character Strong Nominees for Patience
CHARACTER STRONG FAMILY DARES
Every week students go through a Character Strong lesson that help build on our 8 traits: honesty, forgiveness, commitment, kindness, humility, selflessness, patience, and respect. Starting shortly students will be asked to complete a Student Character Dare. These are to help build on practices that are taught in our weekly lesson. Some dares can be as simple as asking someone new to join their table to reaching out to someone students look up to and writing them a letter.
We are encouraging each family to complete the monthly Family Dare. Each Family Dare offers parents, guardians, and families the opportunity to engage in challenges designed to increase connection and conversation at home. These dares also provide students with more opportunities to practice habits discussed in class.
December's Family Dare is: Quality Catch-Up.
If you take a picture of your family completing the dare, please send pictures to Amy Gardner at gardnera@platteco.k12.mo.us. She will post pictures on Social Media and we can showcase them on our TV's at school.
🏫 PCHS Phase 1 Rebuild Grand Opening
Along with Newkirk Novak Construction Partners and Incite Design Studio, the District will be hosting a ribbon cutting and open house of the Platte County High School Phase I Rebuild project on Thursday, December 8 from 5:30-7:30 pm. This event is open to the community and tours and refreshments will be provided following the ribbon cutting at 5:30 pm. Come tour our new space which will be open for the second semester!
Field Trip Parent Volunteer Procedures
We have some field trip information that is starting to be sent home. If you would like to be a parent volunteer for any of our trips, we're asking that parents be scanned through our Hall Pass system prior to the field trip. This scan can be done by coming up to the main office a few days prior to the field trip and once you are in the system, it will be good for the whole semester.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining our safe and caring environment!
❄️ Winter Weather Information
Click here for information on school cancellations/modifications due to inclement weather, how the District will notify parents, as well as information on recess, Y Club, and Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Days. As a reminder, PCR-3 will implement traditional inclement weather days (no school and no virtual learning), until we reach a threshold that would push the school year past Memorial Day. We will make those days up per our academic calendar, and if we go past our planned make-up days for inclement weather, we will implement our Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Days.
Daily Wellness Check - It's Cold and Flu Season
We're entering into Cold and Flu Season. As a reminder, below is our district wellness check. Stay well!
MOCSA Training for 6th Grade
6th Grade Parents: Please review the letter below regarding upcoming training provided by the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA). If you do NOT want your child to attend this presentation, please reach out to the counselor, Mrs. Griffin, by Monday, December 12th.
MOCSA’s bystander engagement presentation is a developmentally appropriate conversation that explores the types of bystanders that exist. Bystander engagement discusses ways to be an active bystander in a situation where someone is being hurt. We explore different ways to help that can be used no matter what a person’s comfort level is. Bystander engagement encourages students to support their peers and understand ways to help in different daily situations.
