Brookhaven Elementary
One School, One Community, One Family
August 18, 2020 ~ Volume 1
Dear Brookhaven Families,
Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year! As you know by now, we will begin our school year in a Planned Remote Learning format on Tuesday, September 1st. Please refer to the District FAQ page for questions that I may not yet have addressed. Here is the Student Calendar for the 2020-21 school year as well. Please keep in mind that the first week of school is three days, the second week four days and the third week will be our first five day week of the school year.
Thank you in advance for being flexible and giving grace as we work together to get our school year started and continue to support our students and families during Remote Learning. As we all have experienced, this pandemic can bring change often and sometimes quickly. As mentioned in my video, please know that we are making decisions in the best interest of our students, families and staff during Remote Learning.
This first letter will be long but hopefully very informative as we kick off the new year. It is my goal to anticipate and answer as many questions as possible so that you feel prepared, calm and ready to begin with Remote Learning on September 1st! If you find that you have unanswered questions still, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email or by calling the office. I am happy to help!
Lastly, there is construction currently going on on Brookhaven Ave. The northbound lane on Brookhaven Ave is currently closed. It's a bit tricky turning onto Brookhaven from both YL Blvd and Bastanchury. If you haven't been by in a while, you may want to take an evening drive to see for yourself and map out the best route for you. Please be sure give yourself enough time to arrive and find parking on Chromebook distribution and Materials Pick-Up Days. THANK YOU in advance for your patience. We anticipate this construction to be done near the end of October.
One School, One Community, One Family
Warmly,
Mrs. Lucas

Chromebook Distribution Day ~ Monday, Aug. 24th
During Planned Remote Learning, students will need to have access to a device in order to successfully participate in the learning. Brookhaven will be distributing devices on Monday, August 24 to any students who are in need of one. Distribution will take place from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and from 1:00-3:00 pm. You do not need to sign up or make an appointment during these hours. Please just follow the social distancing signs when entering campus and wear a mask. If you are unable to pick up a device on this day or during the indicated times, we will have them available at Material Distribution Day (08/31/20) or we are happy to schedule an appointment to help you. If you checked out a chromebook in the spring, please keep that device to use this fall.

You are welcome to bring the following forms to Materials Pick-Up Day. You do not need to send or bring them to the office prior to that day.
